Keeps getting weirder.

Don Day | April 9, 2004

Now when you pull up the big KZMG.COM, you again see a big picture of (well, first the new Magic Morning Show team — more on that next) Erica Fox & Co.

They’re running a prom-time contest. But the photos feature both Bambi & Erica. In fact, the home page says “Men in Black and a FOX.” No time for a reshoot?

Fox: the final chapter (OK, well, for now)

Don Day | April 8, 2004

Erica Fox is no longer an employee at the Citadel Radio Palace in Boise. Sounds like the KIZN producer job was hers — but a missed remote and a behind-the-scenes happening later, and she’s out.

Word.

Does KTHI have a new website?

Don Day | April 5, 2004

Apparently K-HITS is teasing their new website. JournalBroadcastGroup.com links to k-hits.com. Except that’s a CHR station somewhere.

Anyone know the new address?

Nate loosens up

Don Day | April 2, 2004

KZMG’s Nate (Dog) is loosening up a bit. He took some calls — did some prank calls, etc.

Nitpick: Quit saying “this is your boyfriend Nate Dogg.” Some (in fact many) of your listeners aren’t either a) female; or b) gay.

It was a con.

Don Day | April 1, 2004

And it was lame. Listeners don’t like to feel duped. I’m all for having fun on the radio — and sometimes these stunts and games can be interesting. But this isn’t one of those times.

I’d like them to acknowledge that they actually did fire someone (two someones).

Again… yawn.

KZMG “fires” Jayar Reed & “Big Boy” Evan Rose

Don Day | April 1, 2004

Something about towing their GM’s car… who knows.

If they’re actually fired — I’ll be shocked.

The funny part (to me) is that they block out Jayar & Big Boy (not Erica, who has actually been let go).

Update: Valentine is trying to create some tension… he’s saying the kids are in the GM’s office… some announcement is supposed to come at 5. April fools? Yawn.

Update2 (3:42): They’re running bumpers saying Jayar & Big Boy have been canned. It’s too bad they hadn’t canned Erica 5 days ago… this might all be believable.

Oy…

Don Day | April 1, 2004

From the Idaho Statesman:
Radio station’s April Fools prank alarms dam officials
An April Fools joke by a Boise radio station that Lucky Peak Reservoir had failed is false and unfunny, the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers said today. The Boise FM radio station allegedly aired reports that Lucky Peak Dam had failed. Local law enforcement and emergency management officials received calls from concerned citizens, said Dave Brownell, operations manager at the dam. Corps officials could not immediately identify the station. Brownell said the dam is secure and operating normally. “This was a sick joke, especially in light of our country’s efforts to fight the global war on terrorism,” said Lt. Col. Ed Kertis, who commands the Walla Walla District for the Army Corps. “Alarming the public, even for April Fools, was not funny.”

My thought: Anytime a prank can cause people to panic, the station could be liable. Dangerous stunt.

Don Day | April 1, 2004

Who had the best “Fool’s” stunt today? The worst?
