All salespeople are paid by revenue generated. So, while it is true that announcers are only as good as their last book. Sales folks are only paid on their last sale!

What is your definition of delivering a 6 figure show? I would say there are at least four or five shows in this market who deserve 6 figure salaries, some even more, based on income they consistantly help to generat for their respective stations. Bob and Tom for instance, cost about 200K a year and are worth more than twice that amount based on income they are directly responsible for bringing into the company......Take them off the air and revenue for that station drops over a million dollars a year.....they also go from a top rated station to one that doesn't crack the top 10. Look at morning show ratings for the market, how many shows are out performing the rest of the station. Those are the people who deserve to make that type of money. It's not just a question of ratings, it's a question of how much revenue that person generates. In other words, if the company is making money, they deserve to make money based on that.

Right off the top of my head, Bob and Tom are definately worth that, Tracy and Margo, Mike and Kate and Kevin and Brenda are a few of the shows that are worth the money.....once again not because I think they are super talented, but because of the revenue they consistantly generate and if they were to leave, how many millions of dollars they would loose till a new show was found and developed to replace them.

If more radio people, {this includes dj', pd's, salespeople, and management} all were paid not just for ratings but for revenue that was generated, we'd all be making a lot more money.

As for the frat talk for someone who has just graduated from college and experienced that it is a nice thing to hear that kind of talk seeing how i can relate to what is being talked about. unlike many shows in the valley the banter that is talked about is first of all useless and NOT FUNNY. how can i relate to someone who is 30 something and having conversations with there grandmother about god knows what. And if you pay attention to the other morning shows many times this "frat" lingo is right along the same lines ie: pimp my dorm and such. come on give ME a break.

In one case, he/she doesn't deliver a 6 figure show -- but that person's contribution to the station and it's other activities is very valuable.
