I was just sitting here in The Valley, remembering My Old Schwinn three speed and the GE 9 Volt Transistor radio I had made a little carrier for and Mounted on My handle bars.

And It occured to me that My Station was Q104 – THE ROCK OF IDAHO.
So I did a little search on it to see what happened.

No One has looked here since 2007 I guess.

I had to leave the state in Middle school due to the parent splitand now that I am back all these years later everything has changed. it’s still The greatest place on Earth to live of Course and raising my kids here is My dream.

But what of My Station? What ever happened to Q104?

I Cannot Imagine anyone having cause to say a bad thing about Boise, especially back in the day! What a great place to live!

I’m trying to find a Q-104 window sticker or T-shirt if anyone has one or more to get rid of. Also, if anyone would allow me to make a copy of their Q104 tape, I would appreciate it and even pay for the privilege. haqitman(at)gmaildotcom. Thanks.

Back in my younger years, I hated this town with a passion. Not a thing to do. Left, moved around. Somehow, my family made it’s way back to Cruces and so did I. Less bars now but it don’t matter to me. I spend my time working and then sitting on my butt watching tv. Yeah, the town is pretty (from the highway) but it hasn’t changed much in the 8 years that I didn’t live here. The thing that bugs me is that there’s NO landscaping. The roads are dirty and full of potholes and there’s no pretty anything next to them or in the medians. It’s all weeds and dirt and gross. This town could have so much potential (it being the second largest city in New Mexico).

Got tapes of KJOT when it first came on. Played a couple country songs, then Frank Sinatra, then a country, then Peggy Lee. Not sure what the hell they were doing.

KGEM’s been 10 KW day & night as far back as I go.

Ah, Las Cruces isn’t so bad. Yes, it is hot, dusty, and all that, but I still think the Organ Mountains are beautiful and Picacho Peak brings back lovely memories.

we used to call that canyon county.(HOoah!)

and, of course, thats no longer true. at all.

Q104 inserted some deep voice guy saying “Rock-n-Roll” in the middle of My Sharona. I still here those words everytime I hear that song. I was ticked the day it went off the air… but I’ve recovered.

Why do I know your name, Rob Hadley? Did you work in radio in Boise? Just curious.
