For Steve from SLC...How cool to see that chart. I was the singer on Diamond In the Sky.
For fun I just googled Fabulous Chancellors Diamond in the Sky. They said there were approximately 62,000 listings. Most of them are lyrics of the song in other languages. So I stumbled into this. I assume that Boise has a new AM station owned, by Zamzow family. I have been on the east coast since 1970 and I am out of touch with things Boise. Anyway, glad you have the record. They show up on eBay occasionally. I have talked to some of the buyers and it turns out that alot of people are trying to find all four of our 45s as collectibles. Anyway...if anybody wants to write it is richcrowley@aol.com

PLEASE KDJQ!

Get rid of the weirdly edited version of ANGEL BABY by Rosie & the Originals.
The little opening Guitar chord intro is gone!
The Sax break is edited down to almost zero!

A travesty!

Steve A thanks y'all for a fun station!

Oh, and what I think was one of the four best records by Dionne was the forgotten flipside of "Alfie", "The Beginning Of Loneliness"!

Sorry, Steven, I haven't checked in for a while will go look at the INDEPENDENCE DAY thread right now and respond there. Thanks again for the information and letting me know I wasn't completely crazy and that your original post is still there.

Dionne had another killer flipside - "Any Old Time Of Day" b/w "Walk On By"

Hi Bob,

I replied earlier this day to one of your replies from the 30th. Im getting confused,as our paths seem to cross on 2 sparate streams of KDJQ topics. They are the two with the most hits.

So i'll reply to this one as well.
My edited response may be the fact that you were reading a simular blog I left at the other stream, including the KIDO survey!
So, sorry bout the confusion. As I mentioned today at that other stream-where you also mentined your 3 faves of 1963,theres a great B side to DONT MAKE ME OVER called I SMILED YESTERDAY that would be at home on KDJQ !

DONT MAKE ME OVER is so goose pimple enducing.

Did you hear that when she & producer Burt Bacharach were having a bad day at a recording session trying to find a good song that she could work with she got angry and said DONT YOU MAKE ME OVER . And an idea came to Burt for the soon to be ground breaking hit for her.

Wht surprises me is that it did not go at least top 10 on the sacred BILLBOARD HOT 100.
It took ANYONE WHO HAD A HEART to do that.
Which had a great B side called ,THE LOVE OF A BOY.

HEY GIRL by FREDDIE SCOTT is killer balladry,it survived the later remakes by TOM JONES & GOD FERBBID, DONNIE OSMOND.

No No Dont DONT GO AWAAAY HEY GIRRRL

And HEAT WAVE is a real radio treat. So is QUICKSAND & the wonderful ballad, LOVE,MAKES ME DO FOOLISH THINGS .
Tha sad thing is that these artists were usually screwed by their companies! MOTOWN was better than most which does not say much.
When you read of the gouging contracts they had to sign,& most did not read the small print & even if they did it was sign or GET LOST.

Anyway, read my other response if you can find it!

Steven Anderson, I enjoyed your post! And replied to it but my reply disappeared (plus I notice your original post has been edited). Just noticed this...

Thanks for the great information! And I hope you get that gig you mentioned earlier.

1963 was an incredible year for music! In fact my two favorite records of all time are Heatwave by Martha And The Vandellas and #2 is Hey Girl by Freddie Scott. Plus my favorite records from 1962 and 1964, Don't Make Me Over and Anyone Who Had A Heart by Dionne Warwick both rode the charts for a while in 1963.

Great radio station. The songs bring back great memories. Is there any chance that the DJ's could say the group that is performing the song. I remember the songs but not all of the artists. For example, you just played "Sincerely". Had to look on internet to find that it was performed by the Moonglows.

Keep up the good work.
