One more comment:

If Randal can debunk Gerassi's claims about the "Queen," then that would also be an achievement that would make the documentary truly worthwhile.

I haven't seen Seth's documentary, but I'm hoping to get an opportunity to see it soon.

Seth is a KTVB-TV producer, I'm told.

I used to work at KTVB-TV as a reporter during the 80s and 90s.

Here is what would disappoint me relative to any documentary about this topic.

1. Failure to interview John Gerassi, the author of the BOYS OF BOISE.

2. Failure to solve the mystery of the "Queen" - the fabulously wealthy individual who - according to Gerassi's book BOYS OF BOISE - was one of the secret targets of the investigation.

If the documentary fails on these two points, then I won't care how many positive reviews it might receive.

Why?

Gerassi's key point was that Boise, Idaho was a microcosm of America's prejudice.

But Gerassi didn't stop there.

His book seeks to document the extent to which the "power elite" of American society will go to protect their power and their financial control.

Gerassi has maintained all along that the "Queen" intended to do major urban renewal in Boise in 1955 that would have resulted in thousands of new jobs.

The prospect of economic development - according to Gerassi - caused members of Idaho's "power elite" to fear that Boise would be forever changed in the sense that labor unions and unwelcome racial minorities would be attracted to the new jobs.

The key question for any documentary is this:

Was there ever a PUBLIC plan for MAJOR urban renewal in Boise in 1955?

If not, was there ever a PRIVATE plan for MAJOR urban renewal in Boise in 1955?

If you can discover the existence of such a plan, you will then find the path that leads to the identify of the fabulously wealthy "Queen" described in Gerassi's book.

According to Gerassi, the "Queen" was a member of a wealthy American family - a name that is a household name across the country and the world to this day!

I have long been curious to discover if Gerassi was indeed correct on these points, but I have never had the time or the resources to fully investigate.

If Gerassi's comments in this regard are to be verified, then I can guarantee you that it would be a bombshell story that would rock the country... not just Boise.

Regards,

Jerry Jones
