Mad Ro… take two

Don Day | September 28, 2005

KSAS is now giving some serious spins to Mad Ro’s “Amp it Up” BSU anthem.

After my post last week, I noticed that Michael Deeds also wrote a little bit about the genesis of the song. It’s a good read.

Mediabase reports that KISS played the song 48 times in the last week, making it their 16th most played song. I’ve listened a couple more times… it grows on you.

OK... time for someone associated with Mad Ro pretending to be someone else to leave a commentabout how cool the song is. Fortunately that's easy to erase...

Yes. I agree. Please keep in mind though that the people who support Mad Ro are very passionate about our music. We can’t allways keep an eye on everyone. Just like certain stations can’t keep an eye on every DJ that harasses any and every Mad Ro listener who ever makes a request. We will allways have people who do not know us calling in, as well as those who do know us or maybe just feel that they know us. Either way, a listener is a listener. As far as this BSU Amp It Up song though, I think it’s a beautifull thing for Boise State and we’re glad to be a part of it. Let’s be real about the subject, this song has a little bit to do with Mad Ro and a whole lot to do with Boise State and their fans. I really hope it’s something that can etch our place into local Boise music history and I hope that the song is continued to be played season after season and it continues to fire up our city for the next game. Aaron Traylor is very energetic, tactfull and has tons of great ideas. Plus he has a good grasp on the culture of hip-hop and new music in general. I’m really excited about him being at Kiss FM. He’s quickly becoming my BOI and I think there is a lot more great things to come.
Magic took it upon themselves to start spinning the song though it was marked with a Kiss FM exclusive tag. Note to self: Mark the next single you release with a KISS exclusive tag…. Just kiddin’ Jim. I would love to see you guys grab at one of my singles off an album like you have this one. You could have at least told me though. I mean, I came to your office and we spoke a day prior. Another thing that sucks about you wiping the Kiss tag off is that the Mad Ro name got wiped off as well. Guess that’s just a part of the game huh? Either way, you know I appriciate the spins. Also, since you are playing a Mad Ro single now, could you ask Nate Dogg to ease back on his verbal abuse just a tad? Though some DJs may think that it will have no effect, it really does make people simply tune a station out when they’re treated like garbage over the phone. Nice idea with the highlights on the Magic version of the song. They were mixed too loud though. Still, a great idea.
Bottom line. This song is for everyone and I hope everyone enjoys it. Most of all the BSU fans, players and there family and friends. Oh and Nate Dogg…. You should put the clamp down on any friends of BSU players too. No requesting for them. They don’t count either. There just calling in cause they know someone on the team……….

    GO BRONCOS!!!!!!!
