When this puppy gets airborne, I'm sure it will find a couple of turbulent patches, but if you've ever seen the work that went into the broadcasting house and the dedication these folks put into what keeps the towers lit 24/7 you would never doubt that KSRV belongs to ONTARIO and the entire SNAKE RIVER VALLEY. When I heard them flip overnight that first day, I had already heard of the changes from Carl at a remote when I saw the shirts with the new logo. I think I cried, as happy as I was. I thought maybe I was hallucinating or dead, but it was true. These people really saved these two stations, or they indeed would've moved to Boise I fear.

Dave Combs always complained about the FM getting in the signal anyway. I have no trouble receiving KIOV at all.

:) Chuck Roast...yeah, I remember him :)

No discount here.I too have worked with Dale. If anyone can pull it off or deserves too, its Dale, he has put in his time and I know firsthand he is ready to move up the food chain. My only hope is that whomever or whatever owns KSRV they dont forget that its a radio STATION, not just another signal. 73's.

Boosters....you are so right...that is what i told Dale a year or so ago...be the best KICK ass station for the SNAKE RIVER VALLEY...that is what KSRV stands for...right?

Local Local Local...do in your backyard what the others are not doing and you will ake money.

But there are others that are always looking at getting a larger piece of the pie at the expense of serving their own community.

Over the years I have been lucky enough to work with Dale on several levels ( Did I pay that Coffee News invoice?) He is a hard worker and a classic “radio guy. My advice? Don’t bet against him.

It was nice to hear from Dale- I too hope that you can succede in what I know are great intentions and strong expections. Such a great response from all.. I too fear that in the world of business, stations all to often get treated with all the respect of pork bellies, gasoline futures and other asset based commoditties, I got my first on air experience at KWEI.An owner saw my interest and decided I was worth trusting with 3000 watts of FM "power" Went on to study communications, journalism, etc at college and after numerous stations worked at KSRV too. Thank Goodness for little stations like KWEI and KSRV and the myriad of other "little" stations that once existed for all our benefit. They served to open the door that might have been closed to the majority of us. Whether for on-air work, copywriting, engineering, sales etc, where would most of us be without small market radio...? Let us hope that there will always be some access to radio/tv beyond just the "college radio station" It all boils down to LOCALIZATION. I think the vast majority of true Broadcasters already knew that is what makes it special for all who work in the business and listen too. (now if we could just get those "out of area" programming consultants and Corporate CPA/ MBA's to comprehend the concept...Best wishes to all....

Get out your checkbook Dale! A lot of hidden cost will hit you like your first power bill. Someone has to help Bogus pay for the new power line. Forest Service fees are just a bit higher up there than your old site (still paying through the same guy tho!).

You have to remember that it was Horizon that initiated this move. If their past history was any indication, their intention was to move everything to Boise. When KSRV is sold again it will move to Boise in a heartbeat.

Don't forget the other rim-shot "move-ins". 101.9 & 106.3 (Bustos) will end up closer to Boise soon. 99.5 is in Boise (was Weiser). KZMG is a New Plymouth station.

99.1 & 100.7 do quite well in the Valley just not up against the foothills from Boise to Payette. Not much you can do. Can't boost the boosters power as it will interfere with the main in places you don't want it to. Kind of a compromise as to where you can afford to trash your signal to gain in another location.

They could not get the engineering correct for the "booster" on 99.1 the first go around...I don't have any problems getting hte station on the drive thru canyon county...but I'm sure that the indoor reception is not that great.

As for KSRV...the coverage maps are very "optimistic" in the little "notch" that allows them the full signal over their city of licence...

The funny thing is that they are going to be next to the "other" country stations up on the hill and we know that their coverage is not that great for Ontario...why would they want to sacrifice the good CITY signal that they have...unless they want a piece of the Boise Pie...hey...the world revolves around the mighty dollar...

Ahh...more RF up on the ski slope...pretty soon the snow will be melted before it sticks to the ground!! hahaha

I live in the Nampa area where the current KSRV-FM signal is rather weak and even more so during my daily commute towards Gowan Field. I am *anxiously* awaiting the new site as it gives a better projected signal both to the west and the east where it currently could use a bit of help. Ontario is lucky to have a locally branded, locally owned radio station that brings a fresher image than the current two FM country stations in the Boise area, oddly enough run out of the same building. Many people leave the Ontario area for Boise, whether it be for school, work or other - now they will have an easier way to keeping in touch with their original home.

The thought of a KTPZ translator on Deer Point is interesting :) It's current location makes coverage weak past the Idaho Center.

There has been alot of rumors that when the newe transmitter and antenna is in place that KSRV AM/FM will be moving to the Boise area. Let me tell you and please hear me correctly. WE ARE NOT MOVING FROM ONTARIO! We have a great listening family here and it will stay that way. We are having a great time servicing the SW Treasure Valley. 96.1 "The Bull" and 1380 "The Cruise" are the only stations that are "Local" in the Ontario area.1380 "The Cruise" has been here since 1947 and 96.1 "The Bull" was KXBQ before it was changed to KSRV in 1978. Why would anyone want to screw that up. Som say $Money$, think about it, why try to cut a small piece of the pie in the Boise area when we can have most of the pie here? Ask anyone who is working for FM Idaho Co. LLC and Locally Owned Radio, this is an AWESOME company and we all believe in LOCAL fun radio. Ya'll have fun in your radio world and look out for The Bull we might just Cruise right on by!LOL
