I had heard they were asking for 30 mil. Personally I think flipping KBear, with its heritdage would be a bad move. There are alot of high income people moving here from metropolitan areas driving the rapid population growth, they need to be considered in this situation. Not everyone coming to the area is into country or AC. I dont think a smart owner will walk away from that heritdage, and being the only rock station in the area.

As far as the station sound, KBear just needs some tweakING, and to stop appealing so much to tweakERS. They have some good talent, good promotions and imaging. But the music as it is now it is a very tough sell, confusing and hard on the ears.

Others in $ame $ituation as myself have come to me and said ‘I cant listen to KBear for more then a song or two.’

I don’t let it hurt my ears too much. I have my XM and Sirius with a dozen rock stations and FOX sports. That is what I listen too. I can afford it. According to census data, Im rich bitch!

Good point Bitch! With Bonneville having a hard time selling the 4th country station in the market along with the K-Bear format in conservative east Idaho and then combine that with KADQ’s Christmas music stunt, looks like there could be as many as 3 FM format changes in the market. Is there an Adult Hits “Jack” or “Bob” coming to the market? It’ll be fun to see what happens early next year!!
P.S. But I don’t think anywhere CLOSE to $30M…maybe 12 or 15M.

So will there be a spin on the ‘Wheel Of Change’? 30 somthing million for a cluster of stations with half that they have a hard time selling advertising on smells of change. Maybe there will just be tweaks in the programming or staff. Who knows?

Ultimately it won’t affect me. I listen to Sirius and XM. But it is always interesting to watch what happens in local radio.

Oooh, I know who is gonna buy Bonneville’s Eastern Idaho stations…but sadly I have been sworn to secrecy by the attorneys involved in the transaction…However, as soon as I get the greenlight I will reveal my knowledge!

Rumor on the street says the Broker received less than a handful of offers and he is trying to get a deal finished up. Look to see something announced before Christmas, maybe sooner. Those stations WILL have another owner! This will make the 4th in the last 5 years given that the closing won’t be effective until early ‘06.
