Well I got to cruise thru big ol' boise and tuned into KISS for a bit on Wed night, heard a guy, Im guessing was Ceasar...a few people bitched about him being on the VT. Have to say I thought he did a good job of it. Got in, dropped science and let the music rip. And the programming was hot for a CHR. Way to go Jac. Sad that I didnt get to hear her on the overnight...was at the in-laws, doing the family thing. You know how it is. But I ve heard her on the X before and thought she was just peachy. So kudos to y'all.

I have to agree with THE. And I blame the FCC for not protecting jobs by dumping the requirement that there always be a body in the building. With 4,5,6 stations in a building, can't there be ONE overnight position. The suits always claim there's no money, but then run out and get a $40,000 SUV to slap a station logo across.

I just LOVE the logic of management. First, they eliminate jobs. Then, after people do the only thing they CAN do and find jobs in other industries, management says, "See, there's no talent in this market."

NEWSFLASH: People still have bills to pay when they get kicked out of their radio job. Virtually no one can afford to sit around and wait for another radio job to open up, especially when that could take months or years.

The problem isn't an "absence of talent," it's an absence of JOBS. You create jobs that pay a living wage and you'll have all the talent applying that you can handle.

I'd like to clarify that in market 16, in the largest broadcast facility in the country, that over 50% of CC's employees are voice tracked. I know, because I walk down the hallways all day long. I know because for the next week (and a total of 64 arduous days) I'm a CC employee, and boy is it a goofy thing ineed.

So, CC-Boise does a lot of tracking? Get out. No way. Do you think the will locally of programmers is going to be considered in this equation? Not really. I will say, that by hiring someone locally with experience, even voice-tracked, is better than that of hiring someone out of market.

And far be it for me to say, but I always thought being an MD was a far more critical element to a radio station than the overnight talent slot. But that's just me.

Tracking sucks. Call Mark Mays. I wouldn't hold it against Boise management. It happens in the biggest of markets. (cyberjocking not excluded)

As for jaclyn's ability? She has a world of talent for being very young in radio. With time, experience and coaching, there's really no limit to what she can do. Mercifully for the naysayers, there are new people to dislike everyday.

As for liner card jocks...We all get liners, don't we? What we choose to do with them is up to us.

Best of luck to KSAS, and of course KQXR in their endeavors.

ps. now really 'gets it.' personality is our only weapon against the ipod experience. (and with podcasts, being LOCAL and entertaining is the only trump card)

Both of you guys are stupid. Stop.
Shame on "Disturbed" for picking on someone....(do you really need to dip that low? Not everyone can be as amazing as YOU, I am sure.)
Shame on "CL" for supporting liner jocks....(should we promote monkeys apposed to real people? If you want record spin updates, read an R&R. I'd rather hear something I can relate to. And, No. I am not a Howard Stern Fan. The power of "radio" verses an IPOD, is hearing a person that makes you want to listen, not hearing a piece of paper with words. So, I must defend the "booh, on liner jocks" comment. But it is low to make fun of someone.

Amen.

Hey sometimes (not all the time) Id rather hear a liner jock get in, out and on to the music then some self-absorbed, self proclaimed 'rock god' babble and rant for on and on for 5-10 min about their weekend and how they spent time in the j/o booth at the local strip club. Good for them. Stern is going to Sirius. I can listen to him on there...So if I had a choice, 2nd rate Stern Wanna-be babbling or Cheerleader who gets music intensive, Im going with the cheerleader.

Besides, what guy doesn't like cheerleaders? No guy I know. And I never said 'queen', but if the slipper fits, rock it Cinderella...

What market am I from? Ive been around for almost 10 years, NY, LA, North, South, east, west..worked with the worst and worked with the best. Local, nationally syndicated, big, small. You name it. My personal highest rating was a 26. What markets have you been in?

Wow Jaclyn, you really pissed some people off just by getting gigs! Sound like my kinda woman! Id really like to meet you now! Rock On!

Hey CL,

Glad to hear "liner jocks" still have someone rooting for them in the corner....

I didn't know cheerleader voices made good radio. I also didn't know that doing middays for only a few months made you a "queen." Not to mention it sounded more like "bubble gum pop" then a rock show. Liked to know what market your from.....
