KISY bids the world a Sunny goodbye

Don Day | December 28, 2005

100.7 FM (formerly a light AC blend in the Treasure & Magic Valley areas) has dumped its former format — and gone country baby. It’s now playing a (from my ear) pretty upbeat country blend – and branding as “Canyon Country” with liners like “the best country, in the Country.”

The flip happened yesterday. Jocks & liners are already in place — FMIdaho/Locally Owned mainstay Jerre Fender is already slotted in at mid-days. Lots of changes over there…

sunny1007.com now redirects to canyoncountryonline.com, complete with the new logo package. The domain is registered to J Allen Creative in Twin Falls and hosted on GoDaddy’s server farm. All of the content apears to be from Excelisor Radio Network’s RSS feeds with the generic NWS weather forecast feed for the Magic Valley. The site has actually changed several times since it went live Jan 1; the domain was registered on 12/21/05.

At least the signal was boosted better than KTPZ, but I still don’t need over 35 signals including fringe.

I couldn’t believe that sunny1007 is now country music, I can’t stand country music! I used to listen to the Josh Tesh radio show, but now I can’t even do that with all the crappy country music in between! why? why? why?
Now I have only one station I can listen to other than hard rock, when I can handle that.

I would like to comment on the fairly new country station on 106.7 that plays a great variety of the new and the old. I find there morning personalities to be funny and relaxed and informative. I used to listen to 100.7 (Sunny I believe) until the country station took over. I wasn’t much of a country fan but I have converted and really enjoy starting the day with Ken and Jerry. They have some great contests and I do find the John Tesch show pretty good also and I’ve also learned a few new Spanish words!
