Got some extra promo money?

Don Day | December 8, 2005

PLUG ALERT…

As you likely know, there are NO XBox 360s left in the Valley. RC Willey donated the LAST 12 they’re going to get (for now) to KTVB.COM – to auction off. All proceeds (except that 5% eBay fee) will go to the Boise Rescue Mission. We’ve already raised $1600. These are the $400 premium systems.

We have ten units left to auction off – and if you are the winning bidder you can pick it up the same day — so in theory you could give it away.

A Lite out?

Don Day | December 8, 2005

Lite FMYeah… I likes me some Christmas music. Ho ho ho.

I’m getting more than my yearly dose of Delilah though. The show is so trite… but I’m not exactly the target audience I guess.

I had to laugh tonight when the top of the hour bumper said “You’re listening to Delilah, on Lite 108 – KXLT, Eagle Boise.”

Thought they changed the name to Lite FM. Silly me.

The who-zy what-zit?

Don Day | December 8, 2005

From AllAccess:

CHR/Rhythmic KZMG/Boise, ID picks up the Pocos Pero Locos show, hosted by Khool Aid. The show now has 39 affiliates.

The show is a Latin Hip Hop music show – featuring artists like Lil Rob, MC Magic, etc.

No word on where Magic will slot the show. (Thanks, Cale)

OK, so I miss something about Seattle

Don Day | December 5, 2005

So I’m sitting on hold with KSL-TV in Salt Lake — and they have KSL 1160am playing.

It makes me miss the 24 hour conveinence of KOMO in Seattle. News & traffic… all the time. Immediate. Live. Interesting.

Nothing like that on the airwaves here sadly.

Now who looks dumb?

Don Day | December 5, 2005

OK, so I thought the idea of a Glenn Beck Christmas show was a little… silly.

Now I wish I’d bought tickets: they’re fetching north of $225 on eBay.

(Thanks, Dad)

Classy.

Don Day | December 5, 2005

Seen J105’s 2006 calendar?

The advertisers includes: The Torch, The Torch II, The Torch Nampa, Erotic City, Nite Moves, Shakers, Discreet Secrets… and a pawn shop.

I guess it’s some kind of market…

No Pop November is over

Don Day | December 3, 2005

OK, so all I write about is Magic and Kiss. Blah Blah Blah. I tried to lay off in November… but it is a hole new month.

Which brings me to: the new Shamus & Tara’s new commercial. I’d love to post it here — but getting it from my TiVo to your computer isn’t a good Friday project.

So you’ll have to rely upon one of two things: Watch MTV for yourself (painful, I know) — or read my description.

SETTING: Statehouse steps (berfore that purple tree thing was there).
ACTORS: Shamus & Tara
SCENE: Tara standing stoically to the right of the screen. Shamus dancing like a fool.
AUDIO: A loop of the ramp to Kanye West’s Golddigger
FONT: Magic logo up the whole :30, with some yellow text…

SHAMUS
TARA
Tara knows something that Shamus does NOT know
Shamus can’t dance
At Least 10 Songs In A Row ALL DAY
Shamus and Tara in the morning
A Boise tradition…
since April

The video is low-quality, the font is low-quality — and the logo is low-quality.

DON’T read that to mean it’s BAD — it’s low-budget (probably about half on purpose and half out of need) — but it works — and the target audience won’t complain.

(Thanks for the tip, J)

So long…

Don Day | December 1, 2005

My former KTVB co-worker J Bates is checking out of the City of Trees.

J is leaving his “sports director” role behind for a new gig at KUTV-TV. He’ll likely be off the air by the end of the year.

Less less chit chat

Don Day | December 1, 2005

OK, so we were offline for 36 hours. My bad.

I uploaded a video file for the “real” job to this site — and it got downloaded. A lot.

So we’re back now. Woot.
