Oldtimer, Thanks a great deal for the update. Please contine to let us know with updates as you can. It will be interesting to know what happens in the end. As you already know this is a high density population area rich in wealthy demographics consisting of.... Jackrabbits, sagebrush, ticks, cowpies, etc ....but maybe somebody has a vision I don't... or maybe radio licenses are like the rest of the real estate bubble.....

After 7 rounds of bidding, JER Licenses is top bidder for Vale OR at $354k while Chaparral Broadcasting, licensee of 3 FMs in the Sun Valley area is high bidder for Hailey at $297k. Keep in mind that the last FM auction (2004) lasted 14 days and 62 rounds, so these prices could escalate substantially before it is all over.

The allocation coordinates for Vale are south of the Honeycombs Wilderness Study area, near Cedar Mountain in Malheur County, Oregon. That is significantly southwest of the Nampa/Caldwell area. It is probably protecting KJOT 105.1 in Boise & KCIX 105.9 licensed to Garden City, so unlikely it can move closer without a reduction in class...but just a guess.

The brains in the smoke filled rooms are probably planning on running Mexican-Country, They call that something like Tianno, or whatever the spelling is...That would be a really easy moron level decision to try and cover all their bases...

Isnt the TX site for Vale way over in the BLM lands, and they dont want anymore sites on their properties, at least that's what all the Federal Notices of Pending Laws said a few years ago in our local Knewspaper. Dont think I would want to spend the big bucks you are talking about for the FMer given the marginal signal footprint. Maybe they can have KSRV FM's site that will be vacated soon... John Runkle owns that stick....(if you know what I mean?)...That would be a great relationship to have....? Do you know off hand where the proposed stick would be placed?

Another rim-shot that doesn't get into much of Boise. At 105.5 it's sandwiched between KJOT & KCIX.

Let's see what they put on it. Country or Mexican. Sure, why not.
