Sat/pay radio will always be the exception, not the rule. Live, local radio will always have it's place in a community. The ones that don't localize, will fail. If you choose to pay for every thing you see and hear in this life, that's your choice. We are moving rapidly into a "subscription based" economy...
Where nothing is owned, only borrowed. The big fat cats will soon own it all.

It's easy: the "Free FM" thing is what they tell the public, not what they necessarily believe. After all, they had to come up with SOMETHING to allow them to claim that FM is superior to satellite radio.

If you spend two seconds thinking about it, however, you realize that the fact that nine million people (and growing) are willing to pay for RADIO, something they've always gotten for free, MUST mean that they don't find much value in the free version.

It once was about the money. But there is more to it today than just that little piece of the pie. Thanks to the internet, desktop publishing, advances in computing power with correpsonding decreases in operating costs, etc, You can now escape the confines of the once institutional world of the Fifth Estate... Yes, congress has screwed us all with the '96 Telecom Act and the Clear Channels of our world, but YOU are not limited by it. Think outside the box, the public is not stupid they see what has happened to the quality of our Radio, TV and Print Media outlets and they are sick of it... PODCAST, start a blog, ANYONE of us reading this could be the next Ted Turner (ick) or another New Media Tycoon of our time... Dont let the forest blind you to seeing the trees.... empower yourselves

I have a poster on my office wall that I have kept with me for almost 20 years... it is the qoute...

"Freedom Of The Press, Belongs To Those Who Own One." By AJ Liebling

It pretty much says it all.... How many of us will ever have the freedom of the press... especially today given the laws, marketplace and other factors? Hope you will give it some thought as I oftentimes do.
