I find it interesting to compare the May hip hop show that has the momentum of a national tour behind it to the Spring Jam event, which is a single event specific to our market. Besides, the fact that these nationally touring artists have cemented their fame by shucking cell service and cars in national ad campaigns.

I also find it difficult to compare the success of a show like Spring Jam to that of NIN. The NIN show will rock this market because it’s a show this market has been craving for over a decade. It appeals to not only soccer moms who like rock and think Trent is sexy to fans who still listen to Bauhaus on vinyl saved from the ‘80s in plastic sleeves (myself) to new listeners who can sing along to “Only” but have never heard of “Head Like a Hole”. I really think Spring Jam is a show that is to appeal to a more targeted youth market, an audience who typically wants to be part of fresh new scene, is relieved when their parents don't understand it and isn’t as concerned with an artist’s discography but more about whether they’re hot right now. The Spring Jam line up is one of emerging artists who have not yet proven themselves through the test of time, but are no strangers to the charts either—if not all over No. 1 as Ne-Yo is right now.

Just for the record I wrote that entry with a joking feel implied...I hope that it came across as such. In my current situation I am not casting any stones...Read it and think of smiley faces...and puppy dogs and stuff. Bambi how do I get ahold of you...the website doesn't list an email....and Don email me if you have time.

Really reading the passion in these blogs whether misdirected or not is truely why I will die doing radio.

Don!!!!!!!!!!! I miss Boise! This blog stuff is great. Why didn't I participate more when I worked in the area? I bet radio could be WAY better there if people focused this energy for good rather than evil. Carry on though, it reminds me why I love radio so much. Tons of misdirected Passion. You guys ever notice the main station decision makers are never on these things? I wonder why that is? I think your show sounds like it would be hot even here in the Seattle area, the big acts are all hot ones on KUBE'S playlist, Not so much Lil' Rob but I know he works big time in the Boise area...I really do miss Boise. Carry on!

I think this show will do exceptionally well. I'm a listener and one who promotes the streets for all types of venue shows, be it for the Spring Jam show (which I'm helping street team) or just a nobody who approaches you in bars, on the streets, wherever and asks your opinions on what's coming up. Most of the time nobody gives a crap to listen to what I have to say, but the ones who do know about/have heard of/will be attending these events. As long as the promotion is out, people will come. Especially for any artist/s that play on all of the pop/hip hop/alternative stations, as well as anyone who's on our rock/alternative stations. A ton of people listen to your radio stations, including myself. Think about the younger listeners, 15-30. What do you think is playing in a teenagers car on the way home from school? What do you think is playing in the college kid's car who's going to a house party that's also playing the same music? Don't doubt it because you haven't heard of them, and regardless what is your main rebuttal consist of? Arguements of how stations get their music charts, how it's going to suck because you haven't heard of the performers or that they'll be nobodies in 10 years, but nothing that is spouted has any volume of why that's going to affect the outcome. I know most people will go BECAUSE Ne-yo will perform, Bubba Sparxxx will perform, Paul Wall will perform... need I go on? Go to a club on any bump and grind night, guess what's playing? C'mon people, don't be so dense.

It's actually $40 for the best seats. Now, if it sells out, they might get scalped for over $50,

Speaking of Trent Reznor, did anyone notice that Bravo is bringing Nine Inch Nails to town? Any bets on what more people will spend almost $50 to see? Not sure what NIN tix will go for yet, but I'm guessin' they won't have a problem selling seats for the show.
