From what I understand Armstrong did look at it with KIDO, but after seeing what Fox/boi looked like....he said "Pass".

As someone that used to work for KBCI's sister station, I can say I was proud to work there and people really put their heart and soul into the product. It was disappointing to always be third.

I haven't seen any TV in the Boise market for a while, so I'll hold my tongue there.

Yes, I have to give a hand to Belo. They have filled in a lot of voids and recognized opportunities that the other guys have not. That is probably the sad part.-That the other TV media group leadership (management) has not stepped up to the plate and done more.

For the most part, given what is being done for "local broadcast TV", the other GM's must enjoy sitting at home after work watching the satellite dish and not really getting out and seeing all the potential opportunities that exist in actual hand on local TV production ...but in order to do that you have to be totally committed to developing your presence in your market. Its not just about selling advertising.. if you build it, the rest will follow the investment of time, effort, money and sweat. Thats what KTVB did years ago and it has now paid off...

Of all the TV stations, I think its fair to say KTVB has done a great deal to show its a local enity.... I wish TVTV had a full power license, then you might see a real change in what the public could have some real diverse and LOCAL programming. Maybe rough around the edges but up close and personal just the same.

And you are right about the KTRV-KBOI quality issue. It does look like a CCTV low-end security system being used... but then again KTRV has apparently not wanted to invest a lot of money into it...a shame as I have seen some college and local access programming that has done far better. Maybe the KTRV GM needs to realize that his logo is on the show and its time to spend some money on the simocast...its a poor representation of his station. They seem to have funds for the giltz and glamour of the "Nine O'clock News"....

Maybe this is an area that Doug Armstrong can be persuaded to venture into...a local radio station that wants local coverage...Belo certainly has the outlets if they want to go down that road...

Don, Thanks for the input.

Oh the ways I could respond boosters, but since I universally refrain from using any knowledge gained while on the day job - I won't.

I'm merely commenting as someone with a background in TV... it's good radio, but awful TV.

And you forgot a media pipe or two... KTVB.COM & ZIdaho.com...

Don- Points well taken and all...And thanks for defending yourself er, Chris, Could it be that KTVB isnt happy with all the multiple media outlets they have now...7.1, 7.2, 7...., channel 49, 24/7 on cable channel 28.... what next, is Belo going to buy into the radio spectrum of the Boise Valley now?...or are we just suffering from Radio Envy over on Fairview?

I give credit to KTRV for doing the KBOI simocast thing... afterall Ch 12 is weak on local news depite as hard as they try to look credible.... give the poor independents over at 12 a litle credit...they must be selling ads to someone who watches it.

By the way, I was in a thrift store the other day and found a neat little item from our local market TV's not too distant past...a water bottle with the slogan... "KBCI TV...Idaho's 24 Hour Newschannel"...anyone remember that project... I think the cup has faired a lot better than that effort did....
