I was at Hill AFB in the 1980s and heard this ID (sung like the WKRP in Cincinnati theme..sounded like the same signers) on several frequencies (some may have been translators for moutain shadow fill in) Since a legal ID would be KRPN Salt Lake City, and you can say anything before or after that...they were able to say WKRPN (in) Salt Lake City.

lol. Amazing but true, my first broadcasting job was at KRPN as a 16 year old Board Op, in a studio that was once a dentist's office. Later they let me do weather and stuff as "Jay Young" Cruising America with Cousin Brucie and Dick Clark's Rock Roll and Remember every Friday night. Wow I was a hit with the ladies. I can still do every liner and positioning statement in my head. Thanks for this post, that was a great trip down memory lane for me.

Sorry Don, but anything "in the 80's" doesn't apply to a sitcom from the late 70's!

I know KRPN (Ogden) was on 107.9 in Salt Lake City... never heard of it airing in Wyoming or Idaho.

My friend Michael J (http://www.themiddaycafe.com) could certainly verify, he worked there for a number of years.

"...as God as my witness, I thought turkeys could fly."
