Ridiculous
Don Day | September 30, 2006KBOI’s audio stream of the BSU-Utah game could not have been MORE WORTHLESS.
I listened through RightNowRadio.com – and got a loooong commercial break that covered up local content. Yeah – that included the Broncos first score.
I don’t take a stance like this very often: but don’t provide a service if it’s going to be this messed up.
what happened to local tv coverage of the game AGAIN? last away game there was such a big stink raised because you could only get the game with digital cable and not on 7 or any local channel. today…same sitch, except its a DIRECTTV thing. i don’t have direct tv, i have cable, so i had to listen to it on what has become a bad feed on kboi with all the satellite link-up blips and bloops. why hasn’t there been a story on this one?
I’m with you Ken. Not sure why there hasn’t been as much buildup to this mess. The last game was a bit worse – because until the 11th hour, there was no Boise-area coverage AT ALL – no cable, no sat – and no sports bars.
You can blame the Mountain West conference and the awful way they are handling rights to their sports programming. Anytime BSU plays in a Mtn. West stadium – the distribution will be limited like this.
Heh, should’ve streamed through KALL’s feed… but then again, with Simmons Media running it, I doubt it could’ve been too great. ;-)
I don’t think they would have aired it if they knew it was going to be messed up. It’s so easy here on your end to say “Don’t provide the service if it’s going to be messed up”. Unless you have some sort of clue about the technical end of things don’t be so harsh. I’m sure the engineer that set this up wanted to hide under a rock. Stuff happens.
You forget my day job.
I’ll listen again next week.
It wasn’t isolated — it happened several times – and just plain isn’t acceptable.
Stuff happens, sure – but this is a professional business. Let’s “amp it up.”

This will play KBOI’s local content including BSU.
Ah…didn’t know this was ongoing. Just I’ve been in those shoes a few times where there is no way to control the source, you take what you get and hope it sounds good, but ends up being crap.
watched most of the game here in fire camp on directv . nothing to be too excited about with all the mtn west spots they were airing. i was just glad to see football lol . it’s raining here today and we’re finally going home tomorrow. i miss the great radio of sw idaho.
Does KBOI originate the out of town BSU games or are they stuck with a feed from somebody else? Just curious. I would use either ISDN or an Internet feed with phone backup and a station/company talent to call the game, never trust another station to feed you good audio on a major event. But then some things just make too much sense.
