KCID's night pattern is almost toast west of New Plymouth, as is KBSU-AM and 1140 is almost a wasteland late at night because of Las Vegas, a Canadian signal and a religious and another signal. I lost track of them it just gets so bad I don't try. I have a 1937 Silvertone and I can get KTFI well with a long wire but not KCID with other sets and my 1942 Zenith is being rebuilt. Maybe that big antenna will do it.

PS Yes, I DO know where KCID Road is.

Mike P. got it partly right. Very old songs DO sound good on very old radios. But.... very old radios were designed when very old stations had very few watts, and generally work better than very new radios on weaker signals. I live in Boise, and the radio that I can hear 1490 on all the time and very well is a 1946 Philco in my living room. In my office (which is in my garage) I have a National receiver, also made in 1946, and it works well for 1490 also. But, some of my newer ones do not.

Agreed, old songs sound good on old radios. Very old songs sound good on Very old radios. Very old radios need stations with lots of watts. Leave it to a corporation to reverse the formula.

Frank Sinatra certainly deserves better than a measly 1000 watts.
