Canyon Country moves; off-the-air in Boise

Don Day | November 28, 2006

KAYN/Canyon Country 100.7 has moved to 106.7 in the Twin Falls area (Magic and Wood River Valleys).

100.7 is now broadcasting all-holiday all-the-time as “Christmas 100.7.” No word on the post holiday plan for the frequency.

Canyon Country is no longer available in the Boise area.

That’s okay. There’s still 5 other choices for the consumer of country.

Sure there’s other choices, if you like the new stuff. Canyon played a whole lot of old country. Music that takes me back… Music I grew up with. I miss it already.
Seriously, now I have to switch to KFXD to hear the Legends, which would be fine, but AM?
Hey, I got a post holiday idea for 100.7, How about some classic country? Just a thought.

The 106.7 is their NEW station KYUN licensed to Hailey. It uses the same transmitter site south of Bellevue as does their sister station KIKX licensed to Ketchum at 104.7. So now the Sun Valley area gets a country signal.

The “Canyon” is heading in the right direction. However, the play list still needs “tweeking”. KSRV has it down a tad better (Go Dale). I agree with Mike P. A Classic Country FM station with some personality would be great. It is quite sad; there are no “good” country radio stations on fm in southwest Idaho. Sorry good music and bad personality disqualifies you as a good station.

I have been listening to Canyon Country faithfully since I moved back to the Boise area in July. I really enjoy there selection, and the morning crew. Kind of sucks that they are off the air now here in this area. I have tried to listen to the other country stations but I dont like them as much as Canyon Country. I dont mind the christmas music either but I would prefer the country station any day.

Well like the real Music fan says, try KSRV The Bull for your Boise listening. KYUN 106.7 now in Twin Falls and Sun Valley is awesome, but please don’t play to much old stuff it brings the station down. And kill Reba!! Thank you! Oh, Ken you look marvelous!!

I don’t mind AM classic country but I want KFXD at 580 on Amity where it belongs and not sounding like a tin can sometimes. The “swap” was just another crushing blow to KFXD when it seemed they could turn a corner and not end up in another mess for a while.

I don’t think you really know what that station has meant to me for 37 years, and I’m not quite 41!

Just curious to know how long Christmas music will be played on this station (100.7). Until New Year’s?? Sadly, I didn’t get to enjoy the holiday very much this month so I am probably one of the few still listening to the Christmas tunes… and loving every minute. Can’t get over the fact that Christmas has come and gone so quickly. I think I’m in denial. If anyone knows how much longer I have to enjoy the music, please post the info!

I’m seriously bummed about “Canyon Country” being moved out of the Boise area. Really loved their format and the “Left Field” humor of Ken in the Morning. Would love to hear his morning show back in the Boise Valley.

GREAT TO HEAR GOOD OLD CLASSIC COUNTRY MUSIC. WOULD ENJOY MORE OF THE CLASSICS. HOW ABOUT A NOON HOUR REQUEST LINE FOR ONLY CLASSICS?
