Nobody knew of Philo T. until well after his death thanks to David Sarnoff. There were many working on the concept of television, but only Philo had the idea of electronic television which was superior to the clunky mechanical versions that had been invented about the same time. Philo got the idea when plowing a potato field near Rigby. Just as the plow goes back and forth, so do the scan lines in conventional TV sets. Zworykin's limited success only came about after looking over Uncle Philo's shoulder in San Francisco. It would be fun to see Aaron's play! The same happened to my uncle Philo. Probably not. It would have made good press. Why is it, that its only after the fact (in this case his passing) that we found out about his local presence? Very sad.
