That's good info about Adler... Until about 25 years ago, I WAS THE TV REMOTE at our house!

Terrible news about Studio 60! My wife and I are very disappointed with the NBC execs on this one. Let's see if they frost the bonehead cake by keeping "30 Rock".

Finally, and the most troubling is that I might be somehow related to Wrabbitt...

Hey Don... I'm sure that Aaron's play will be great (we will probably have to hope for a film version or a published copy of the play), but if you're a huge Aaron Sorkin fan like I am, he wrote the adaptation for the book "Charlie Wilson's War" that comes out this Christmas. Directed by Mike Nichols.

The same happened to my uncle Philo. Nobody knew of Philo T. until well after his death thanks to David Sarnoff. There were many working on the concept of television, but only Philo had the idea of electronic television which was superior to the clunky mechanical versions that had been invented about the same time. Philo got the idea when plowing a potato field near Rigby. Just as the plow goes back and forth, so do the scan lines in conventional TV sets. Zworykin's limited success only came about after looking over Uncle Philo's shoulder in San Francisco. It would be fun to see Aaron's play!

After seeing the Statesman article, I wondered if anyone in the market ever thought to do a radio or TV news interview. Probably not. It would have made good press. Why is it, that its only after the fact (in this case his passing) that we found out about his local presence? Very sad.
