…and Doug

Don Day | March 13, 2007

Byl Carrico has left the Citadel building. Just about a year after Carrico re-teamed with former KQXR/100.3 The X partner Doug Hardy for afternoons on KKGL/96.9 The Eagle — the pair are no longer holding down the afternoon fort together.

Byl and Doug were pretty darn good doing mornings together on The X back in the day.

Byl and Doug on The Eagle just never sounded right. :(

As much as I have always liked Byl and Doug, and I agree they were great on the X years ago, I never felt the chemistry was there when they re-formed themselves on the Eagle. And, as much as it may make the world stop for a moment, I have to agree with Dizzle here.

Before people start piling on Byl’s personal issues, I would hope they remember that we all have our demons. He is the guy that trained me many years ago at Pirate, and I owe him a lot. I never herd a bad comment from him at either version of 100.3 even when I or some one else deserved it. He is a good person that is just missing a filled in piece.

I wish him well and I hope he can pull his life together.

What a shame. In their heyday on the X, Byl and Doug offered a level of creativity that no other morning show offered then, or since. They never really sounded the same on the Eagle.

Byl does have his troubles, but he is a good guy and can be a lot of fun to work with. It’s really too bad for doug too. This is the second time that he has been pushed into a solo act on a classic rock station.

I can only wish the best of luck to both of ‘em!

I never could get into listening for long periods of time to them in the afternoon. It was more me, than them. My brain craved more music than talk. They did a really great job of bringing life to mid day radio in the valley. No one else even came close!!! I hope that the team can get back together again as soon as everything works out.

I hope everything does indeed work out for the best Byl. Its obvious you have great talent and ability and that when the time is right you will be back again to share with us your great sense of humor, timing and topicallity.

    BEST WISHES!!!!

I don’t normally post to this site because I have never been into “what he said she said”. Radio is radio as we all know. Who the hell knows what the hell will happen tomorrow. We do it because we love it and its unfortunate when somebody looses their job. But it’s like marriage, it’s all a gamble and as long as you do what you enjoy that’s what counts. Obviously (with the exception of the select few) you’re not going to get rich doing radio in Boise Idaho. But we are all a team one way or another. I could be working with you tomorrow or the other way around. I thought Byl was a pretty entertaining guy. There needs to be more people like him, but again, it’s radio and this is the life we have chose. Be prepared what comes with it, good and bad!

I don’t actually think know if that was Jason Drew who wrote that comment considering someone calling themselves “Jason Drew” was logged into our computer in the studio. Either way, best of luck to you Byl. I wouldn’t be where I am without you.

His IP isn’t a Journal address, so I’ll just assume it was a fluke Ian.

After working with both Byl and Doug for a short time on KOOL, I knew they had a chemistry together.

I got to hang out with them “in the cubbyhole” at Cassia for a couple of mornings about a year into the show on the X.

I just remember all the fun we had hanging out and the fun they were having working together.

I think Byl and Doug should have never left the X. They could still pull numbers-better than what they have now too…I think. The X brand=byl and doug.

Ok, help me out here… I am sorry to see Byl leave, but I have a question. Who in the h-e- double toothpicks is “voicing” Bob & Tom in the mornings???? Blech!!! I worked at CC a few years back when the “Arrow” had them, and I would occasionally come over from KIDO to work that show. It wasn’t brain surgery!!! What I hear now from the Mystery Morning Man is bad voice tracked, hideous cliched, terribally mixed garbledy-goop!!! Again, I say, Blech!!! If I knew that job paid more than I make in retail, I would send a demo and snag that gig…. Has anyone else listened to that???

Read the spelling, syntax and general composition of the comments in this thread then wonder why radio folks fail to get respect these days.

The Eagle was so below the byl and doug talent pool. They deserve props for tolerating the waiting room to the casket emporium.

I’ll agree with the first Daisy. He even says, “Boizee” I turn the volume down until he’s done spewing.
