According to AllAccess, The Bull moves to the AM Dial:

No Bull… Bob Appears In Boise
LOR LLC. Country KSRV/ONTARIO, OR, near the BOISE, ID market, has jettisoned it’s format and become Adult Hits BOB FM 96.1, serving BOISE and the Western TREASURE VALLEY. The station was previously known as THE BULL. That format will be shifted to sister KSRV-A.

Just a thought..but…two stations going jockless doesn’t seem to be helping the local talent situation.

A few months back, when KSRV moved to Deer Point, Tester claimed that it would keep it’s focus on the Western Treasure Valley. I doubt anyone is shocked, that after just a few short months, that was to change.

Now the “Birth of Bob” imaging is saying Boise has a new radio station, and the legal ID’s are reading Ontario-Boise. It sure didn’t take long.

You could tell that “The Bull” format was to be short lived, because, after KSRV moved to Deer Point their audio was muffled and weak sounding. After several weeks and then months, no one bothered to fix the problem.

Yesterday evening, just after six, someone finally pushed the right button and brightened up the audio. As soon as it no longer sounded like they were broadcasting from the bottom of a mud puddle, I assumed the format flip would be following very shortly. Later on, there were a few glitches and dead air as they readied the equipment for the satellite feed. At about 11:50 PM Carl Follick did the last break on The Bull, saying “Me and The Bull are out of here, see you again… sometime.” That was that. At about 12:10 AM the Bob format began, and after a little tweaking on the audio processor what you hear now is the new Bob FM.

The key for a Jack-FM or Bob-FM type station to succeed is all about your promotions budget. In order for Bob-FM to survive, they’re going to have to hit the streets hard and constantly be out promoting the station. Since there won’t be any jocks associated with the station, the street team is all you’ve got. You must hit the streets hard and go all out. This is especially true if Peak is going to bring the same Format into town.

I can’t imagine that two Bobs would do well in the Boise market. It all comes down to which station is going to get out on the streets and be the most visible to the community.

Are they really going to both be called Bob? No Steve or Bill or anything? I think that’s a bad move on someone’s part…not sure whose though. Just too confusing.

The more Bob’s the merrier…from one Bob to another…

Maybe we should have a Bob named Sue!

Does that mean we could have a (to quote a song) “Bob-Bob, Bob-Bob, Bobbie Sue”?

After only one day, I have already found myself tired of hearing about what “Bob” thinks. For instance:

“Bob remembers when Middleton was a long way from Boise. Bob remembers a lot.”

Exactly what is that supposed to mean? Whatever, dudes.

Hey Bob, remember when Wieser was a long way from Nyssa? Probably not, huh?

You know all this free press that Dave and the Tester crew are getting in the print media could very well backfire once the other Bob and Jack formats are on the air….. I hope the other radio ownership groups demand equal press access once they get their formats up and running…..

RadioActive – Dave got good press, but there is nothing ANYWHERE that says that anyone can “demand” equal press access. It just doesn’t work that way.

You reminded me to see what Combs is doing tonight! I don’t care how many times he plays Maniac in 6 hours, I like all the songs…can’t wait for anything he puts on the boards now.

Guess who has the last laugh after 35 or so years?

Do you really want a station called Steve?

I prefer the call letters the FCC assigned anyway.

Once again proving that for some really stupid reason only I can see the stupid truth. Don’t worry I’m only sarcastic if not close to right.

Want a consultant? No, but it would buy food and Pioneers.

Sorry Don, I didnt mean the DEMAND as you walk in the door and say here RUN THIS, I meant demand as in market forces as in MONEY TALKS. When was the last time in this valley that a radio station got good press for the heck of it… (please someone let me know) Normally its byl and doug doing something not so nice etc, that makes the pages. Dave is running a slate of newspaper ads….or so he said in your article about cross media promotions, So yah, lets tit for tat here, you rub my back and I’ll rub yours with some newspaper advertising soon…. Thats my appraisal of the situation. Also I find it funny that the Statesman of all media gave any press to radio given that they are going to be a competitor for ad revenue. To me the only time Radio or TV makes any kind of splash in the local bird cage liner media ink is when Deeds writes about it… but I could be wrong… would love to hear others views. Yah, I give Dave a point for the free PR… its not easy in this valley to pull it off anymore… Maybe the next time we read about Bob will be when Jack and them have the ratings out…

well…in a market that is completely and overly saturated with trackers….Bob will be pulled under (har har har) soon. At least we know they will have creative programmers in big market writing funny liners and image that will be somewhat amusing for a few months. Then, just another bland, boring station with no community connection. Still though…a great button to push because they can’t ever fill up on ads…meaning very few commercials too. The thrill won’t ever stop!

    again, forgive me.

OK, I have been listening to BOBFM consistently now since they went on the air and its all B.S.!!!! Bob’s IPOD must only be a 5 Gig because he doesn’t have crap for selection. Yeah its one thing to play Duran Duran followed by VanHalen and then finish it up with a little Cher: but why play the same song over and over from these artists that have gigantic catalogs? It’s the same songs every day, sure we get that its on random shuffle, but BOBFM has as much depth as a Saturday night church dance DJ’d by someone’s annoying uncle.

It’s fun to hear those songs once in a while for a laugh, but seriously…. where is the rest of these artists’ songs????
