I hardly EVER listen to KIDO or whatever they call it now since Chris and Jon left. That station totally bores me now. The new people on there (don't even know their names) just don't have the connection with the listeners they way Chris and Jon did. If they come back I will definitely start listening again. I agree with everyone else that Jon should get to run his own show and let the micromanging stuffed shirts butt out!

ART- I wish there was some way you could videotape or make use of streaming technology so that those of us from afar and away (and whose jobs dont allow it) could still attend as well as capture for historical purposes all the information you all get to share!!!!

Maybe Don could give you some advice on this?

Thanks for the announcement about the May 31st meeting Don. Correction; KFXD started in Logan Utah on September 2, 1925. The call letters were assigned in alphabetical order as part of the "K-F" series (ie; KF-RC..KF-XD...etc). They are the oldest in the state IF you count their time in Utah. Otherwise KSEI's letters are the oldest still in use. KIDO was changed for KFAU in November of 1928, and is still the State's oldest station by a country mile, starting at Boise High School (wher I graduated from in 1970)way back in 1922.

The KFXD call letters actually debuted in Idaho on March 5, 1927 in Jerome then reappeared in Nampa on May 4, 1930. Yes we really do have all of these dates and I guess we have nothing better to do with our time! But what is going on with KFXD NOW is just another chapter in its colorful history. A format change is indeed coming and we'll hear all about it at our meeting on May 31st at Peak. We'll also play some (as the Firesighe Theatre used to say) "stabs from the past" - tapes featuring Wayne Cornils on the air for the "SUS-PENDED" J Donovan West in May 1974. I taped this when I was PD of KYME in in 1974 and it is fabulous! Wayne's daugter Carrie Cornils and his widow Wendy Green will hopefully be there too and will bring some cool things for show and tell! We'll cover KFXD from 1925 to the present. In fact our latest History of Idaho Broadcasting Newsletter we will feature the full history of KFXD - complete with old charts and pictures of Mark Boland, Fred Novak (Lillge) and T. Watson "tiny" Tom Scott! Hey Tom why did you ever use that title? Just kiddding! Come join us...it's free...and you don't have to be a member of our organization of broadcasting geeks...just someone who appreciates broadcasting and role it plays in all of our lives. Thanks -

I would agree as well... But, here is the big thing... LET JON RUN IT AND THE SUITS STAY AWAY!!! That is the reason they left, got fired, whatever, the last time. LEt Jon run HIS show, and the boys in the front office sell spots. And as far as the call change back?? I don't see any problem with that, except as we know the 630 signal basically sucks after pattern change. I can remember the signal dying at Eagle Rd. and I-84. Pretty bad when the transmitter was only about 6 or 7 miles away. Oh well, as Sir Lee would say, "Given time and money, anything is possible!".

In my opinion, I think returning the KIDO/KFXD call letters back to their original frequencies would be in order.

Restore those AM radio stations back to the origins of the stations as referenced in Idaho's radio history and you would win back a lot of public respect for this new company.

Secondly, Jon and Chris have to get back on that morning grid.

The "old school" format that is implanted in Jon Duane's head needs to come back with a little less unit time. Just maybe on the air a little later in the morning.

20-25 minutes of canned commercials per hour is too much. Keep the time in favor of programming and make the product more of a value.

The ever-so-famous "Jon and Chris LIVE Read" needs to come back also.

POINT NUMBER THREE!

There is still a ton of decent, syndicated talkers out there ready to go with the flick of a switch. Some of the already established syndicated shows on the air in Boise that are on tape delay might also suddenly become available for a live time slot on a different station.

This looks like it could be getting pretty interesting...real fast!
