KFXD, KIDO swap cities of license
Don Day | May 31, 2007This escaped my notice: KFXD-AM is now licensed to the city of Boise, while KIDO-AM is licensed to the city of Nampa. KFXD has long been licensed to Nampa, while KIDO was a Boise station (KIDO’s one-time sister television station KTVB is also licensed to Boise).
In essence, 580 AM returns to its Nampa roots, while 630 does the same in Boise. Clear Channel flipped the frequencies for KFXD and KIDO in 2002.

Hasn’t 580 always been licensed to Nampa, and 630 to Boise?
Yep!
580 & 630 only swapped call letters…
Yes, this call-letter “switch” was done at midnight on August 14, 2002. I was honored to be a guest on the “Jon & Chris” Show on KIDO’s last day on 630 KHZ on August 12th of 2002. I have a tape of the hour I was on and we played some old jongles from KIDO and KFXD, an old commercial or two, and talked about Boise radio history (imagine that)!
