Dizzle has an excellent point. Unpopular yes, but still a valid point.

I think its wonderful that this family got the help they needed. And its WONDERFUL what everyone did for this family....but, let us not forget that need knows no season, no rest, no color barrier or end. There will always be need.

Let this situation that we just experienced be the START of what our community can do....not just a great experiment. Then and only then, can we live in a truly great and giving community.

Dont let it end here, with everyone patting themselves on the back. Lets keep the momentum going... Who will step forward to make sure that others get the help that they need......There are plenty of charities with lists of names of others....lets hope that our local media will remember this, not just when its convenient.

Dizzle,
get a clue. You have absolutely no idea what you are talking about. If you completely miss the idea and concept of this (first and probably most difficult in the valley ever executed) you are far off the mark.

Let me guess-you'd take the boob billboard.

While I think what has happened with this story and family is very inspirational and down right one hell of an effort from everyone involved, I seriously dislike outside media outlets promoting the direct competition's prime-time programming.

I know this family needs the help but exercise my point from a competitive standpoint...

I think the "news agendas" of some of the outside media outlets are hurting for good, local news stories.

When someone like ABC invests over a million dollars per episode to produce an episode of "Extreme Makeover: Home Edition", they are expecting this type of reaction from everyone in the media market around them, Especially in the smaller markets.

ABC's production company just completely USED the outside media outlets who decided to spend airtime on this story. ABC just got you, outside media outlets, to promote them, talk about the show for DAYS during all your main newscasts for something like 4 days and what's the payoff, from a competitive network's standpoint??

What's the Payoff for your station?? Huh??

You just spent days, in-some case's, using you're HIGHEST RATED NEWS SEGMENTS telling other people about someone else's product?

The executives at ABC just WORKED the entire media pool here in Boise.

In my opinion, this should have been just an ABC deal.
