…And another one down, and another one down…

Don Day | August 9, 2007

KOSY/Salt Lake City’s program director has left the station. His replacement? Former CC Boise operating manager Jeff Cochran. The station’s morning host also jumped ship – heading to a competing smooth jazz (KOSY is an AC station).

The morning host was doing most of the P.D. duties, since the last p.d. and morning host was let go, despite applying for the new position which meant lower pay… anyway, Kelly worked for KBZN for years before KOSY. It’s nice they were willing to hire him back.

Wait-a-minute!! Jack has done an Elvis and has Left The Building (in this case, the building would be Idaho)??? Congrats to Jack — we’ll miss you.

I think Jack would rather rip-off his own face than to work for The Evil Empire again!

Well, the Boise market will be poorer without Big Jack as he has been a tradition here form some time. Maybe his ship has come in. Good luck Big Jack. Jack is the last of his breed in the radio buisness as he still portrays the 60’s-70’s brand of personality radio. May you live long and prosper.

Guess this means that Jeff Carpenter AKA Dale Jefferies will be stepping up to the plate to fill Jack’s shoes on the Oldies station…..?

Apparently we are misinterpreting Jack’s post…he isn’t moving nor has plans to move to Utah.

Apologies to Big Jack for the misunderstanding. Looks like we won’t have to do without him after all.

Everybody continues to give Jeff crap, yet I don’t see anyone giving Citaswell crap for yet another change in mornings at Magic (or should I say tragic) They’ve fired or changed line-ups, according to my account 14 or more different times in the past 5 years. That’s about the same number of changes that clear channel had at all their stations in the past 5 years combined, but no one says anything about that……

Precisely!! THAT is what I (and it would seem a few others) misunderstood in his original post. Jack is a Treasure Valley staple and one who (thankfully) is here for the long haul.

It is soooooo amazing how a comment can be construed to mean something so far from what the commenter meant. If people would only look at the context of a comment …. The thread was NOT about Jack, but about someone else who moved. And Jack commented about that. As soon as I saw the first post after that, I thought “O boy, here we go again”. Come on guys. Wake up and read before jumping to confusions. Then you won’t make such fools of yourselves. Duh!

Absolutely…cuz RDS has never misunderstood anything before, right? I apologized and took ownership of my incorrect post…what more do you want?

Well, on the positive side, it has brought everyone out of “blog hibernation” and shown that all the regulars are still checking in to see what is being posted here…

You have to admit it has been kind of quiet around these here parts(cue the rolling sage brush) for a while.

… now back to the ratings. Bryan Gregory and I are doing mornings on BOOMER 100.7 (KAYN). The oldies are back and with the ratings out … you can see we launched a very quiet and under the radar station campaign or should I say the lack of one (by design). If I’m not mistaken, we are #24 12 with a .5!!!!! Our new liners will say “we’re #24, we’re #24, we’re #24″. Big campaign coming this fall. THE NUMBERS WILL CHANGE!! And no, I’m still not going to SLC.

Never did say I haven’t misunderstood anything. I have very much embarrassed myself on occasion. And I acknowledge Jeff owned up to it. My comment was more that once misunderstood so many followed without looking back at the source, and that’s how rumors take off. We (the people posting) darn near had Jack already moved!

Funny how the most active BLOGS are always associated with Jeff Cochran…even when he’s GONE!!!

For those of you that missed the RECORD LARGEST BLOG to date, simply link below:

    http://idahoradionews.com/go/archives/2007/03/08/cochran-out-at-cc-boise/

It should probably be re-named THE JEFF COCHRAN NAPALM TRAIL…

P.S. Hey, Big Jack, I understood your joke from the start.
To the others, put that flask of Jim Beam back in your desk and get back to work.
    :)
