Last time I talked with Dave Combes we had coffee at The Little Kitchen in downtown Nampa in September of 2007. he had heard I lost my gig with Tester and wanted to know if I could put together a morning show for KIOV kinda like the one I ran on 1380 KSRV. He wanted me to do it from my computer at home. I told him (1) Cheryl would not allow a radio station in her home
that I would have access to 24 hours a day. She gave up enough of the past 35 years to me being gone "playing on the radio" to have one in the house. and (2) I would feel more comfortable in a studio.....which he didnt have. He told me he was going to be gone for the next 2 weeks and he would contact me when he got back. I went home...put a few things together and waited for his call. After 3 weeks I called him, several times but he never called me back. Never have talked with him since. Thats one of my Dave Combes stories.

I have been listening from time to time and it sounds like the station needs to clean up its audio to the transmitter. Are they running a phone line from the satelllite feed directly to the transmitter.... Maybe one of you boys running the station could better enlighten us out here as to what progress is being made to make the frequency response more tolerable. Thanks.

FLASH! boys, KIOV 1450-Am is indeed alive and functioning with Dave Combes at the helm. He is not working at KWEI excepting to help with occasional problems over there. the station is indeed in meridian at 1406 N Main St, Ste 207. The phone number is 887-4666. The tower is indeed at Sand Hollow and the signal is strong from mid Boise to West of Vale, OR. Their daytime programming is primarily conservative talk beginning early in the AM with Bill Bennett, then Laura Ingraham from 7-10 AM, Mike Gallagher, Michael Donovan and Michael Regan. They broadcast NASCAR, Cubs baseball (for which KTIK gets all the Arbitron credit even though they don't broadcast them until the playoffs), NFL games that aren't broadcast on TV, JAZZ basketball, and are the exclusive broadcasting entity for BYU football and Basketball, have a very popular Outdoor talk series of shows (something no other station bothers with in Idaho) and many other programs primarily on weekends. Joan Endicott has a 2 hour program on Saturday mornings. This year they are broadcasting Vale and Nyssa High School Football. They are increasingly active in partnering up with civic and charitable organizations in promoting worthwhile causes, BUY LOCAL campaigns and deserve a big look by everyone. No, I'm not Dave Combes but a rabid NASCAR and sports fan.

I listen to KIOV on occasion. It is a Sporting News Radio affiliate. They carry the Laura Ingraham show, Tim Brando, Todd Wright, etc. It's not as good as KTIK by any means, but worth a listen when the ESPN stuff gets a little stale.

The FCC database says the station is licensed to Media Enterprises, LLC.. The company's address is 1406 N. Main St., SUITE 109 Meridian, MS ( though I presume this is an error, and it is actually Meridian, ID).
