KFXD launches new website

Peak Broadcasting continues its run of great website launches - this time with the new 63kfxd.com (just plain kfxd.com works as well). The site is a bit different from the average radio site, with navigation built around the logo on the home page and a fairly simple approach inside the site. I like how the contact page lets you reach out to SVP Kevin Godwin with a direct e-mail link - and the use of vintage KFXD studio pictures, emphasizing the station’s long history.

The station is also offering its program audio online. 1033kissfm.com and mix106radio.com are the final two Peak sites left to launch on the Statioinality platform.

(Disclosure: I helped create the site’s co-branded traffic page as part of my day job.)

And the on-air promos shout: “Boise’s ONLY all-talk radio station!” That positioner is very often followed by a MUSIC intro to Jon & Chris. What happened to KBOI, KIDO and KITK? Are they no longer talking?

Obfuscation, disingenuousness or an outright lie? Depends on your point of view I suppose but it certainly must be included in one of those three categories.

No… Hmm, let’s see… KBOI, they do a standard news wheel, traffic & weather every 10 minutes. KIDO, news wheel, features, traffic & weather every 10 minutes. KFXD. Traffic 3 times an hour 6-9 when they feel like it, Fox news at the top. No regular features, no Limbaugh update, no Dean Edell update, no Paul Harvey. Freedom to talk to whomever, whenever, and no huge restrictions on the clock. Quite nice, actually. Can take callers pretty much whenever. Quite the array and mix of Libertarian/Progressive/Conservative hosts throughout the day.
