Go to the LAB with the X

Just like KJOT (see below), KQXR/100.3 The X is inviting its listeners in for a night of opinion, music and station tours:

Finally, you get the respect you deserve. As a loyal X listener, we need your help. On November 6th, we are going to be holding a Listener Advisory Board here at the station. It’s a chance for you to come in and give us your opinion on everything happening at The X. Music, Jocks, Favorite Colors, all of it baby! It’s almost like we actually care what you think! Would you like to take part? Click here to join the X-Army and fill out a survey!

The prominent and key phrase “It’s almost like we actually care what you think!” reveals so much about how most owners/managers/programmers view their listeners that no further comment is necessary. And they didn’t even pretend that it was a joke.

Wow you’re obviously not a listener.

The X, caring what the listeners think by way of contrast to what the PD thinks they should think? That’s a pretty good one.

    Keep on pretendin’.

    Oh Jac,

Don’t waste your time with the likes Mr. Raker. Not tuned in. Doesn’t get it. Lights on but nobodies home. Elevator doesn’t go all the way to the top floor. That squirrels a running but nothing is spinning.

    I could go on.

    Really.

You’re right Jac. They deserve better. I mis-spoke. They’re the “Good guys” in town. I believe their management does care about local involvement.

And you’re right, I’m not a listener — not my genre– had them confused with another one of the “other two” big group owners in town.

Sometimes it’s hard to keep the cynicysm in check. It’s sort of like the self-righteousness we see unleashed elsewhere.
