I worked with Karl. To contact him you may wish to go to Dale Peterson, Buy Idaho First Commission, Boise Idaho. Dale was the owner/manager of KCID. Some of the other KCID folks were Sam Bass, Jerry Spanihower, Dale Metzger,Edd. Wade, Ina Adler, Kathy Stewart, Ross Cook, Doug Wade.

Again, on the subject of voices of yesteryear, I thought of two more personalities I would like to know about: Karl Follick of KCID and KSRV morning drive time fame and Barrett Rainey, who did a midday show on KBOI for awhile. Has anyone heard from these personalities?

Speaking of voices from days gone by, I was doing some internet surfing and found an entry on Barbara Babic. Barbara was the news director at KGEM many years ago when Dale Metzger was the morning drive personality (Greg Williamson and K.J. Mac likely remember her. From http://www.wsdot.wa.gov/communications/ntpaw/Speakers.htm#BarbaraBabic comes the following:
“Barbara Babic is a graduate of Loyola-Marymount University, Los Angeles. She moved to Idaho in 1977, to become News Director for KGEM radio in Boise. In 1985, she was hired as the Public Relations Manager for the Idaho AFL-CIO during the state’s Right to Work campaign. She has also worked in the Idaho Legislature as an attache and lobbyist. Barbara came to work for the Department in 1988 as the Public Information Supervisor at Headquarters. She moved to District 1 in 1995 as the District’s Public Involvement Coordinator, overseeing all public involvement activities in the five northern counties.
District One has a strong commitment to engaging the public in meaningful involvement in the project development process. The District has the first, and only, information office devoted to public involvement for a specific project. The Sand Creek Byway office has become an integral part of ITD’s commitment to the Sandpoint community.
Barbara enjoys white water rafting (if the rapids are no more than Class 3!), antiquing, and photography.”
As recently as June 16 2006, Barbara was working for the Department of Transportation in the Bonners Ferry area. I found the email address of Barbara.Babic@itd.idaho.gov if anyone wants to try emailing her.
