KAWO CUTS PANAMA JACK

After a day of closed-door meetings, KAWO/Wow Country 104.3 and morning man Panama Jack are parting ways, Idaho Radio News has learned. This is the second staff change on the KAWO morning show in the past two weeks - producer Brian Bird was cut from the Peak roster in November. The change is effective immediately.

Jack joined Peak Broadcasting this spring to head up Wow’s morning effort. He was hired when the former My Country 104.3 was rebranded and reworked as Wow Country just after Peak took over the frequency from Clear Channel Communications.

For now, Jack will be replaced in the morning drive by “The Outlaw” Don Jarrett, who will leave his afternoon post to take the early wake up call. He will team with Jack’s former partner Amber Lee.

Tarzan Dan will slide from mid-days to afternoons to cover the gap.

This is the fourth on-air cut at Peak Broadcasting in the last 14 days.

that’s very very sad. I know Panama in person. He was a real nice man. I wish I could have spent more time with him talking about radio with him. I am sure he will find a new job soon.

Let’s see, nearly two years of tweaking, name branding, some more new name branding, cutting jocks, moving air people around. Maybe its time to drop the format and try something else.

Funny they now have someone in mornings who posts fake interviews on the web. Yes None of Don’s interviews are real, he takes audio off the internet, cuts it together and fakes it.

Now for some real gossip. Word it WOW will be Oldies just after the new year. It is supposed to be the final part of the settlement with Citadel.

    VTR,

Wait I’m LMAO. Ok now that you’ve won the Nigerian Lottery, get real. All you have to do is listen to the interviews and you can tell. If you need more proof go on the internet and take audio to audio and you will see he ripped them off.

Sorry but you are so wrong on this one.

You should listen again. There’s no way they are fake interviews, they’re talking over each other, and call him by name! You sound jealous Harry! Why do you care so much either way? Unless you work at the competition. For the record, I’ve heard Cory & Deb do a fake interview with George Strait before, and it was very obvious it was fake. Don’s interviews that are on their website are real. YOU ARE WRONG. I even heard that KIZN freaked out because he called Taylor Swift and aired the interview. So, quit hatin’!

Funny how the audio of Don’s interviews won’t play now that this discussion has been going on.

I know people at KIZN and KQFC. I also heard Don play a faked interview with Garth Brooks the day of one of the Kansas City Concerts. I wish all the media in town would play only real interviews rather than fake ones.

So I ain’t haten’. I expect truth in the media.

I just listened to them. The Jack Ingram interview, Jack says “Don”….duh. YOu don’t know “Jack”. And you are hatin’! You are naive and ignorant. Merry Christmas.

Aw… Yall are so cute arguing like an old married couple. Just to chime in on this - I used to work for a very well known Citadel station out of market and we would air a produced interview segment entitled “first look” or “fresh air” where our morning show interviewed a high profile country artist…

All we had to do was record our talent asking the questions and send it off to be produced.

All of Don’s interviews might not be kosher, but you’re totally naive if you believe that KIZN and KQFC aren’t doing the exact same thing!

Citadel has not had a “fresh air” in a while…that “spin” progran went away after all the investigations…

Plus…we never “sent” the voice stuff away…The fresh air was either taken “produced” as it came with some num nuts from another station that did it…or we got the plain wrap version where we added our voice to the answers given from the artist.

    I know…I worked there…

NOW…I’m sure that there are other “interiew” type opprotunites that go to BIGGER markets 97 Boise…I’d see that stuff going to Denver and ask why we did not get it in Colorado Springs

Busted - Numb Nuts is right. Couldn’t they have found someone other than “Booger and Buttflap’s Morning Zoo” to actually conduct a coherent interview?

I was just the night guy then so I might have been incorrect on the process of having the show produced, but the fact remains that it’s been done before and it will happen many times more…
