dee I’m sure you didn’t mean that insulting. Logan is a huge name in the magic valley. He was an extremely popular morning show host on Z103 (now mix)for many years, then he moved to KEZJ where he was a phenom as well as an excellent Sales Mgr, then he moved to Lee Family Broadcasting where he was Sales Mgr as well as on air w/the KAT. Yeah I’m a Logan fan, I’ve worked with him a couple of times and learned a great deal from the guy. He is going to be a powerhouse in his new gig, I have no doubt.

Oh. I have known alot of POWERHOUSES in my time too! Radio is not TV. And if you have worked in the industry as long as the rest of us, fine. I worked with Logan a long time ago, but as far as a recognized name anymore…well?? And with that note, I am out…

One more thing, why do people listen to the radio? Is is because of the jocks or music? The same with TV, do they advertise on TV to see themselves or really sell the product..things to ponder…

    Dee,
In evaluating my radio listening, I believe I listen for the personalities (e.g. Paul J., Chris, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, etc.) However, my evening listening lately has consisted of KQFC because I have enjoyed the mix of country music they have been playing. It is more reflective of the music I grew up with and I enjoy hearing the older songs as well as a sampling of the new stuff.
Regarding TV, after the initial “thrill” of seeing oneself or one’s business on TV, I would guess the advertiser’s ultimate goal would be to sell product and increase the profit line.
However, personalities do sell product. For those of us who are chronologically challenged and remember Paul J.’s commercials for Blacker’s in the 70’s, a lot of Mr. Blacker’s product was sold because public perception was that Paul J. might own a certain couch or dinette set. Today, we might buy Cindy Crawford’s furniture or Christie Brinkley’s exercise gadget because of the celebrity association. Personalities still have impact in the marketplace and upon the economy.
Now, if you will excuse me, I need to go eat my Valerie Bertinelli diet meal and then lay down on my Rush Limbaugh Number Select Number bed and read my Sean Hannity book.

Dee, you represent an adversarial viewpoint that is often expressed towards our industry. At the same time you seem to question Mr. Tusow’s long history as a “personality.”

Let me tell you he IS still a factor in this market and is a complete professional. There are clients that still ask for Logan to lend his voice to commercials because HE IS a factor.

As for the reason people listen to the radio? I hope it is for personality. You can get music a hell of a lot easier on I-POD. Personality built this ‘biz and if we want to maintain it, it will be our salvation, inasmuch we can control our egos!

actually, Buster Bronco, I would only have some Cindy Crawford furniture in hopes that, at one time, she sat on it.

    Ken,
What couch wouldn’t want to hug the curves of Cindy Crawford each night?
What exercise bench wouldn’t want to work out with Christie Brinkley?
Geez Ken, keep it “G”. This is a family blog.

Well hello boys. Seems like I have your panties in a wad. Well, I don’t work for the paper, and I am sure that Logan will do well, he is a very impressionable person, but like I said, look how many of us have moved on and were never missed, let alone, remembered???
