WoW! Dee I like how you think…it’s VERY clear to me that you have been a memeber of the “club” for quite some time. Heck it sounds like you may even have experience in LARGER markets;) I work on a national level now but I like dropoing in and checking the temp in our little pond evey now and then…lol Looks like I missed a few things or I just heard it wrong. Some things never change…In the end I hope it has all worked out for Logan.

Dee, you represent an adversarial viewpoint that is often expressed towards our industry. At the same time you seem to question Mr. Tusow’s long history as a “personality.”

Let me tell you he IS still a factor in this market and is a complete professional. There are clients that still ask for Logan to lend his voice to commercials because HE IS a factor.

As for the reason people listen to the radio? I hope it is for personality. You can get music a hell of a lot easier on I-POD. Personality built this ‘biz and if we want to maintain it, it will be our salvation, inasmuch we can control our egos!

In evaluating my radio listening, I believe I listen for the personalities (e.g. Paul J., Chris, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, etc.) However, my evening listening lately has consisted of KQFC because I have enjoyed the mix of country music they have been playing. It is more reflective of the music I grew up with and I enjoy hearing the older songs as well as a sampling of the new stuff.
Regarding TV, after the initial “thrill” of seeing oneself or one’s business on TV, I would guess the advertiser’s ultimate goal would be to sell product and increase the profit line.
However, personalities do sell product. For those of us who are chronologically challenged and remember Paul J.’s commercials for Blacker’s in the 70’s, a lot of Mr. Blacker’s product was sold because public perception was that Paul J. might own a certain couch or dinette set. Today, we might buy Cindy Crawford’s furniture or Christie Brinkley’s exercise gadget because of the celebrity association. Personalities still have impact in the marketplace and upon the economy.
Now, if you will excuse me, I need to go eat my Valerie Bertinelli diet meal and then lay down on my Rush Limbaugh Number Select Number bed and read my Sean Hannity book.

One more thing, why do people listen to the radio? Is is because of the jocks or music? The same with TV, do they advertise on TV to see themselves or really sell the product..things to ponder…
