I'm completely with you on the "taking over the station" gag, Clint. I pulled that one back in the 80's and it wasn't exactly new even back then.

Time for some new stuff, radio folks!

This is typical! Why dont we stay up for a week and say we are doing it for a cause again! Let me stop all of you all,yes it was for a good cause BUT let me remind you all why was Keke's stunt turned into the guiness world's recod book??? Think about it because it was a ploy to draw attention to ratings!!! Yes this stunt will draw listeners on their hopes and high dreams but sooner or later the listeners will get smart to the idea! Desperate act if I say so, I am sure there will be negative comments to follow BUT I was also the only 1 to call Keke's stunt a ratings ploy when every one else wanted to condemn me for speaking the truth!!!

Citadel Boise: Here's an idea for your next contest and I won't even charge you for it --

Three-Card Monte

Give it some thought and get back to me. Seems like you're going down that route with your contests, what's one more street carney scam?

Well, as I said in the previous thread about this kind of contest, I think it sucks.

You often see people refer to radio as "theater of the mind." This kind of contest is bad theater. There's almost certainly going to be no payoff.

Think about it: if you go to see a movie with Tom Hanks and Meg Ryan in it (in the olden days when they were younger and cuter, that is), you know damn well they're going to end up together at the end of the story. You'd feel cheated if they didn't. The only question is HOW they'll get together.

In a contest, people want to see a winner. The excitement and tension comes from wondering who it will be and how it will happen. A contest with no winner is just bad drama.
