Peak Broadcasting announced today the appointment of Jason Wilmot as Director of AM Operations for the Peak Broadcasting stations serving Boise Idaho. In this newly created position, Mr. Wilmot will be responsible for the day to day operations and programming of News Talk Radio 580 KIDO, All Talk 63 KFXD, the on-line new media brands consisting of www.580kido.com, www.63kfxd.com, and the recently formed Peak BSU Radio Network created to provide play by play coverage of Boise State athletics throughout the Northwest. Prior to this appointment, Jason served as the program director of News Talk Radio KFYI and sports KGME in Phoenix Arizona. His previous responsibilities include programming Clear Channel talk stations and a traffic network (Total Traffic) for four years in Salt Lake City. Earlier Mr. Wilmot was responsible for the programming of KBOI here in Boise, which, at the time, included Boise State University play by play. (Note: Peak Broadcasting was recently awarded the play by play rights to BSU beginning in Fall 2008.) At every assignment, Jason has also participated in various charities and community projects tied to each of the markets he was involved in. This includes Phoenix Suns Charities, The Salvation Army, and The Phoenix Childrens Hospital. This appointment is effective immediately.
In making the announcement, Kevin Godwin, SVP/Market Manager of Peak Broadcasting/Boise noted “This newly created position underscores Peak Broadcasting’s commitment to our News, Talk, and Sports initiatives in the Treasure Valley”. “Jason’s extensive experience in spoken word radio formats, play by play, and community service, in every case, has achieved impressive results.” Godwin continued, “We look forward to Jason’s contributions to our already talented lineup of talk show hosts, radio journalists, and sports reporters.” “In addition, he will direct Peak’s fast growing on- line initiative, and sports network operations.”
Commenting on his appointment, Mr. Wilmot noted; “Boise and Peak Broadcasting offer tremendous growth opportunities. I am enthusiastically looking forward to being a part of this special community.” He continued, “for over 80 years, 580 KIDO, and Idaho’s first radio station, All Talk 63 KFXD have been the Treasure Valley’s heritage radio brands featuring local news, traffic , weather information, legendary personalities, as well as the great sports platform of Boise State” “My expectation is to further enhance these benchmarks and grow both brands, on air and on-line.”
Mr. Wilmot will relocate to Boise immediately.

I’m really not a big fan of press releases about someone written by the same someone… Something creepy and overly self important about writing in the third person…

I dont mind seeing the press release. We have all written them at one time or the other and its kind of fun to see what the offical line is/was. And besides this way we can compare it to what say the “local” paper would do with it, if they were into covering this sector. So I say thanks to you Don for giving us this perspective.
