Since the FCC’s still issuing STA’s to AM stations to be rebroadcast on existing FM translators you can see a possible reason to move that translator to Jerome.

Heard KDJQ on Jan 24th from the DAY 50kW site running Mexican. Nothing since then.

A Couple of things since I actually have a clue as to what's going on here.

The poster, elchupacabras who said, "If they plan to simulcast the two, they could be in dutch since the FCC only permits a 30 percent simulcast within the 60mv coverage area." is an idiot and shows his ignorance right in that statement. Do you REALIZE how strong a 60mv signal is? Stations are only required to put a 5mv over their town and most do that great... 60mv would peel the freakin paint off every house within 1/2 mile of the transmitter site. Any kind of real radio person wouldn't confuse the numbers or terminology on that one.. it's just too darn simple!

And in reference to elchupacabas post about, what is your point?
Secondly, I no longer know of ANY rule preventing a full 24/7 I'm kinda confused, what doesn't inersect with KDIL?

Stations simulcast one station on another.. it's done all the time, in some small cities where you have a big FM and a small AM, the Am repeats the Fm 24/7... plenty of stations are doing it and have never been cited for it. I've seen plenty of AM-AM simulcasts too!

Get your facts straight.

I worked for a station in South Carolina, on AM, that filed to move to Whitney, Nevada.. but it's hopelessly deadlocked in a tie up with several other stations. WAMI-AM 860 in Opp, Alabama applied to move to 1540 in Kanab, Utah...those three are still "pending". However, 1190 WBSL in Bay St Louis, Mississippi wanted to move to the same channel, but in Laughlin, Nevada
and it was denied.

KDIL, now with an Application to move to Jerome, will probably simulcast KRXR 1480 in Gooding. Although, there will be a fair amount of overlap by day. Maria Juarez also owns KIGO 1420 in Saint Anthony/Rigby, but that would be too far away from Jerome for 940 to simulcast it.. one would think.

KDIL's proposed tower site is about 1 mile south of US highway 84, 4 miles east of Rex Leland Highway and about 8 to 9 miles Southeast of the Wendel city limits , near the INtersection of 350 S Rd/S 2300 E. The pattern is all SW by day and all NE at night

Juarez also bought K268BP 1015. Mountain Home, Idaho and has an application to move it northwest of the current site.

Look for KDIL, when it eventually signs on to not always change power and pattern, as KRXR (5KW Day/93W Night, Non Directional) and KIGO(32KW Day/12W Night, Non Directional) are famous for not powering down! KDIL is proposing 2 towers, with 1KW Day and 2 towers with 250W Night. .and as I said before, two entirely different patterns.

The KDJQ situation has been a flop, no one's been able to keep that station on for long, it keeps going silent after a Sale or LMA falls through.

A Full power station can and often do have translator in major population areas where they have dead spots.. if it's a downtown office area or an area with lots of residences, it's important to fill hat it!

I don't see where the coverage of this station really intersects that of the predicted daytome coverage map on radio-locator.com. To me, it's a stretch. Take a look:
http://www.radio-locator.com/cgi-bin/pat?call=KDIL&service=AM&status=C&hours=D

But don't forget, Melba has lots of cows. Think about it! If you gave each one a radio, you could have thousands of potential listeners!

It's kind of nasty scraping the cud off the arbitron diaries, though.

98.7 has got to be worth MILLIONS. It has a strong 100kW signal that covers most all of the Treasure Valley. What an asset to have. And, as far as I can tell, translator K260AI, which is the Deer Point located translator at 99.9 MHz I mentioned before, is rebroadcasting KARO's signal. If KARO were ever sold, I'll bet that translator would sweeten the deal a little.

I'm sure that the E-M-F is waiting eagerly to unload one of those signals or a translator to a high high bidder- KISU finally got a deal worked out with them to acquire 91.3 in Eastern Idaho. But, when you think about it, the FCC should've said "Hey, K-Love, we gave you a full-strength signal there. On our last visit to the area to inspect public files... there's no signal issue. Return or sell the translator ASAP." Too bad the Treasure Valley is such a growing area. I'm sure they realize that 98.7, translator 99.9 are valuable to commercial broadcasters and maybe one of the other non-comm. licenses would be for a community group or (local :-o) religious institution.

Oh boy. Don't even get me started on the Educational Media Foundation's Air1 stations in this market. There are a ctually four signals broadcasting the same material in the Treasure Valley. Don't forget the translator on Deer Point at 99.9, Boiseengineer. Even though the other three full-power stations you mentioned have a city-grade signal in the Boise area, I guess they needed that extra translator in case they missed a spot.

That does easily show the kind of dis-service the FCC is doing the American public. The smaller towns and markets are getting the worst of it. McCall is a great example. KMCL (now KMXM) has been on the air in that area for decades. If the deal is still going down, McCall will lose that local heritage signal, and Parma (Boise) will get yet another 100kW rimshot signal.
