History’s next: KIDO turns 80

Don Day | July 27, 2008

The History of Idaho Broadcasting Foundation’s next meeting is set for this Thursday at 11:30am. Full details after the jump. The meeting will focus on KIDO’s 80th anniversary this fall – and includes news about a possible book about the station’s history.

This fall we are celebrating the 80th Anniversary of KIDO, which switched from KFAU to KIDO on November 11, 1928! We will make plans for that at our next meeting which is

Thursday July 31, 2008 from 11:30 A.M. – 1:30 P.M.

at Smoky Mountain Pizza & Pasta at 415 E. Parkcenter Blvd. in Boise.

This will be a no-host lunch (order off the menu).

The entire program will be a review and a discussion of KIDO History! Frank Aden and I met with the new owners of KIDO, Peak Broadcasting, on July 14th. They have tentatively agreed to help underwrite a 50 page book on the history of KIDO Radio from 1928 to the present, as well as producing a 1-3 hour radio show to air on KIDO.

If you have anything on KIDO to share, please bring it to the meeting. We’d like to get everyone who has worked at KIDO together for this meeting. And, as long as we have everyone there, we’ll tape their comments for the book and for possible use on the radio special “The History of KIDO…1928 to Now.” We hope you can make the meeting!

Call (208) 853-7756 for a free ride to the meeting. Or, email Art at pawzup@qwest.net This e-mail address is being protected from spam bots, you need JavaScript enabled to view it

See you at Smoky Mountain Pizza at Parkcenter & Mallard on July 31st

(they are located in the old Parkcenter Mall across from Albertsons Corporate Offices).
