Rainshadow- Boy can I relate. Its one thing to have a passion for what you do…I have a job much like yours…its just a job. It’s only a job. All you can do is hope that like a really bad movie, it will end sometime so I can move on to something else…something far more satisfying….God help us all who have crappy jobs and even crappier managers!

Huh? Where do you see “philanthropy” in what I said? I merely pointed out that employers are NOT doing employees a favor by employing them, that THEY pay YOU in exchange for the work YOU produce. You see a fallacy in that?

I admire Rocky and his passion for his job. Where I work at the moment, there is no passion for what I do. I go in at the last possible moment and leave as quickly as possible. When I was in broadcasting, even though I wasn’t always making tons of money, there was a passion for the job, so I put in 12 and 16 hour days in some cases.

When the company is run well, management allows that passion to express itself so that the employees can achieve extraordinary results.

Perhaps you have missed your calling. You should probably take all of your wonderful ideas regarding employer/employee relationships. Then buy your own station and become the philanthropic person and business you wish all others were. Seems to me that actions speak louder than words.

I’m sick of hearing how employers are doing people a favor by “giving” them a job. Employers exchange their money for YOUR labor. There ain’t no “giving” in that equation.
