If you do not like any format there is a thing called the dial, you can turn it! Far be it from me to stick up for Poderosa. I do agree they look foolish paying people to come on the air and talk bad about other stations, do they not see that people are only calling in for the money? Bustos Media’s techniques have risen them to the top of the Boise Market for spanish radio and have for almost 3 years now. If KWEI is your favorite station, ask them why they did a panic move and changed their format and name. La Ley & Poderosa both stations can not even be origanal. There are so many stations across the USA with those names. And is it not funny that KWEI & Poderosa have the cast offs from BustosMedia. Maybe they were not good enough to cut it at a real station?? Believe me you do not see any castoffs from KWEI at Bustos, only proffessionals work there and well Poderosa is still yet to be determined on proffessionalism. I dont know their GM but have heard nothing but good things about him, but every one else…..well their actions speak louder than words !!

well poderosa is not what I spected always the same music , the same dj comments blablal……They look as bustos media I dont like the format , please stop talking about the other radio stations and start to work because you will loose clients and public.

claudia castrejon is not a real locutor sounds like a recorded voice from bustos media,please include more dj local news more music , more comments fire it up……….like variedades, I think they are the best in the market now…..piolin its ok but you gays need more sparks …..no ofense but if you want to be the best do it right. and professional dont copy bustos diffects.

I for one certainly welcome La Poderosa into the Idaho radio airwaves. Too many of the AM stations in the magic valley area center around specific genres or specific artists, that sometimes they repeat the same songs several times an hour. Valentin Elizalde? No offense, but even his own fans get tired of listening to the same song over and over. Pasito Duranguense? If one artist copies one song from a different genre, next thing you know there are 10 bands singing it in this format, and the radio stations in the magic valley area playing them over and over.

Not only that, radio hosts, both woman and man thinking their jokes are so funny when the underlying theme is to go for the easy laugh with often offensive jokes. I am open minded, but there are no subtle hints on many of the jokes that they make, oftentimes adding a pre-recorded laugh when there is really nothing funny about what they just said.

I like variety, and originality… La Poderosa certainly brings some of that into our radios. Ever since I noticed them, I have not gone back to hear what the others have to offer (again, no offense, but if they did not improve in 2-3 years, what would be so much better about them now?

I normally don’t like to dig into my competition, but I heard something I thought personified the absolute worst of anything I have every encountered. Claudia on La Poderosa went on the air offering $100.70 to whomever came up with the worst horror story dealing with another Spanish language station!

Look, it is fun to compete, but frankly, that makes the whole industry look poorly. I have other competitors as well, and would not want to throw “stones at glass houses.”

This type of promotion comes from destitution. I hope I am not banned for these comments and frankly don’t care what radio group would come up with such a promotion, but it doesn’t get lower!

I don’t want to start a “p-ing” war, but I will say this much, Thanks La Poderosa! We are working harder than ever to get more prizes, cd’s, and better quality on the air. I have never had so many calls from east of Jerome in my 9 years on the air!

Don, with all due respect, your comments are unfair and incorrect. What Mikey said is correct if you leave out KWEI-AM. KWEI-FM plays some Regional Mexican music but also plays some Spanish Pop and even plays Tejano in some dayparts. They are not a pure Regional player.

KWEI-AM is in Weiser and doesn’t really get into Boise.

His quote was we are the only Regional and local station – and that is correct. KWEI is not pure Regional – it plays other forms of music, while KDBI and KQTA come out of Sacramento.

Just wanted to clarify.

KDBI-FM and KQTA-FM are both Regional Mexican – KDBI does not run Spanish AC as you incorrectly stated.
