Kski was something I happened upon when I moved there in October of 1981. I walked into the station and asked if they needed any dj's. They said no , except for the Sunday Classics program. I was a music major and communications major freshly out of college. Jim Paxton was the name of the station manager and Jim Dales was the morning DJ. Jim interviewed me and gave me my first "on air" paying gig. Oddly, Jim and I looked identical at that time. Even his hockey coach (Sun Valley Suns) would not believe me when I encountered him in the streets of SV or Ketchum that I was not Jim. Jim reported to me that he had the same problem. Guys would be talking to him like he had partied with them the night before and would not believe that he and I were not the same guy.

Anyway, the owners were behind the curtain Morman types and did not undrestand that we were not playing Donnie and Marie. He also did not like that I supposededly had a Minnesota accent. FU Ken Franzen whereever you are. Some Mormon plant guy showed up in a 3 peice suit one day and took our jobs. He did not last long.

I hear the place has changed hands a few times since the 80's and was even owned by Clint Eastwood at one time. Do not know if that is a fact, but that is what I heard. All I can say is if aint alternative in that market what the "f " good is it.............especially when you consider the name is KSKI. What follows is the first tune I ever played at KSKI. I was a hit because I know music and that is that.

Bummer--it now sounds like another classic rocker rated: "B" for boring. Too bad, KSKI was always the music of the times. That means 2009, not the 70's 80's and 90's. It's almost like another KECH, just slightly different. Good news I suppose for 99.9 the Buzz in Twin, however...

I am also very disappointed by KSKI's edge being dulled. Does anybody remember Tom and Terri or Tom and Nicky in the early 2000's? That was raw radio, and I miss it.

In 1996, I use to live in Gooding. I lived listening to KSKI because it was the only station I thought was good. Besides Hits 99. But I am sure someone knows this question. What sattellite network did KSKI broadcast? I could they were programed by satellite except for the mornings. What network was that? Also, where was the network located. That was a good network what ever it was. I will talk to you later.

AAA is a good format for a market like Sun Valley. KMTN sounds great and hopefully KSKI will continue the tradition. "Alternative" is becoming active rock anyhow, whereas AAA plays more of the truly alternative acts.
