Impact looking for workers
Don Day | December 5, 2008This from Elliot over at Impact:
Impact Radio Group as several openings. We view people as an asset not as liabilities. The time to gain market share in an economic down turn is better now than in the last 10 years. Any recently let go professional radio people in the market, please contact us for openings in sales, programming and promotions. 208-465-9966 Impact Radio Group is an EOE.
Finally, some good news. Man, it is getting ugly out there!!
Really??? What’s the good news?
Hint: Advertisers who can still pay $12 a column inch for newspaper advertising are prime targets for radio ads. If newspapers are going away and radio still has some influence in the local market, this is the way for the sales department at Impact to go.
Somebody is hiring rather than firing. Thought it was obvious.
From the inside of Impact Radio … Ditto to what Elliot said!!!!
Jim Smith says … Really??? What’s the good news? … It’s been years Jim, time to walk away from the bitterness. This isn’t the same company. Owners and management GET IT!!! After spending several years under the Clear Channel banner, this is a breath of fresh air. When was the last time you heard laughter coming from an office, a sales person’s cubicle, high fives in the hallway? This is a very different company!!!!
Hey Jack and Bryan… In defense of Jim Smith’s comments, I wonder if what Jim was commenting on was the job situation in general….After all he does work in a sector that should have a grasp of what the employment situation is…..
But then again….we shall both have to wait and see what Jim has to say for himself on that one….
RadioActive … perhaps. But I do know that there is a bit of hard feelings there towards the “old Impact/Horizon”. If I need to be corrected Jim, then have at it!!!!
As for Impact today, completely different rules, regs, guidelines, direction and so on. As mentioned before, there is a feeling in the building we haven’t experienced in many years. Kinda like it use to be before corporate radio!!!
Sounds like Impact is a fun place. I do remember when working in radio was fun and interesting. I left around the time the MBA (Management By Angst) crowd moved in and drained the creativity from the medium.
Great comments Big Jack and Bryan….the times I have been able to catch your show it has been entertaining and LOCAL. Perhaps that is why everyone is so upbeat at your station. Imagine that! Statesman cutsback, others are laying off people…..and for most of those, the times I have read/listened to their product it is never LOCAL, and totally out of touch with the market.
What a concept, become THE COMMUNITY, and entertain, inform, and represent the community. The world will beat a path to your door.
Nice to hear that Jack. Hope it all lasts. What this world needs is radio the way it was back in the “good old daze…” When it was fun, paid well and you looked forward to going to work and being appreciated by your employer and the listener…..!
What in the world are you talking about? Don’t put words in my mouth Jack and Bryan! First of all, there are no hard feelings on my part. It has been resolved. I was even willing to come back and help out on weekends but they chose not to use me… that’s okay. My life is very good and I don’t waste time harboring ill will towards anyone… including “friends” who might occassionally fly off the handle without any foundation. I have a number of very successful businesses of my own plus I have the opportunity to serve the people of Idaho, again, including many “friends” who have found themselves on the bricks. I even recommended Impact to one of my national voiceover clients for an upcoming promotion. Doesn’t sound like sour grapes to me. Thanks for the read Radioactive.
Still your friend,
Jim
I work in the building with Big Jack and Bryan. Impact and Darrell Calton is the real deal. He Just unveiled a plan to recognize and teach community service. Everybody in the meeting looked and acted like they just saw fire for the first time including me. Its refreshing. Rolls up his sleeves and works like a SOB and guess what? The rest of us do it too. I’m staying as long as they’ll have me. It has its ups and downs don’t get me wrong but it sure feels good for a change.
Ice Ice baby…..ding ding ding ding da da ding ding
Aren’t there any other Carlton family members that could be hired over at Impact?
Its Calton. No r.
Thanks!
To all that have left encouraging comments thank you. To those that did not, give us some time. To those with minds we will never change, no hard feelings. And to “The ST”, it’s okay….. this business is not for everyone. We know you will find happiness in the future.
OK, I have to speak my mind……I have an ill taste in my mouth for Impact and those that run it. It is no secret, I work at BustosMedia and applied at Impact when they were going to launch 100.7 La Poderosa. I was promised the moon to come over to Impact. People that sale advertising know what an account list means to them, I told Darrell and Mark if I come over I must keep at least half of my account list otherwise why would I give up my job @ Bustos. I was told “yes of course, you will lose some but keep some and gain some”. I resigned @ Bustos and went to Impact on the promise that I get to keep alot of my clients. After 2 days I had to finally push the issue and then sat down with Mark and was told no,no,no,no,no as we went down the list! Oh but wait you can have this cast off and this too! Where was the truth?? the truth that I was told would be there if I left Bustos?? Now, all of the sudden I was a spy and saying things about me to clients when I went back to Bustos. That is BS and the 2 workers that formely worked @ Bustos that now work @ Imapct know that I went there to work hard and make Impact money. I feel that I was used to hurt Bustos and given scraps at Impact. My clients will vouch for me, I am a great rep who think above and beyond and go the extra mile for them and people who work with me know that too! Money is not the ultimate goal, sure it is great but client satisfaction is better. If Impact is so great how do they collect toys for the needy kids and then hold them hostage to give away at remotes to try and sell advertising and drive traffic to the clients location?? I know I have rambled enough and if it is 2 long Don I am sorry but this good guy theme that Impact is trying to portray is a front. And I welcome any feed back and response. I have posted my real name if any one is wondering
Clint, Have you ever heard the expression sour grapes? Knowing Darrell and spending some time with mark, They are both great people and great leaders, if you spent more than two days here and worked out your little fit, you would’ve realized that. As for the spy to hurt bustos??? We don’t need it. And to be honest Clint, it probably didn’t happen the way described it buddy.
As for our toy drive on La Poderosa, The “remote” we had held the toys hostage at, was actually done in the sam’s club parking lot and it was a very successful charity event and you know that Clint. As for the former two Bustos employees you keep refering to, They’re on fire over here and doing a phenominal job.
This entire cluster as a whole is doing a wonderful job.
Good Luck to you buddy. With an attitude like yours, you’re going to need it.
This comment goes to Clint… I’m the gal that left Bustos along with Clint… Impact has given ME everything they promised and more!!! It is what you make it!!!! Have a Merry X-mas … and God Bless!!
Come now little D, you know as well as I do that the toy drive was offered as a pitch to sign a client and Rosie knows who I am talking about! So if it was all for charity why would you try and sell it??? As for sour grapes yes, you can say there was but they are gone now. I just could not go with out speaking my mind when people make it like Impact is this wonderful place to work. And gee is it not funny that when Rosie and I were friends and worked at Impact and all the lies came out who was the one saying they screwed you over and blah blah blah. That was you Rosie, try and play miss innocent but you know it was you. As for a spy little D, I didnt say I was a spy for Impact to hurt Bustos, (that doesnt even make sense) I was saying that people at Impact were saying that I was a spy for Bustos AT Impact. And it seems that when the 2 people who worked at Bustos have now become puppets over at Impact. Listen competition is good and I am all for it but when some one makes them look all good, I have to speak my mind. AND on another note, I KNOW that I am not the only person in this industry (english or spanish) who feels this way towards Impact for all the low balling they have done.Really Rosie god bless!!! coming from you that makes me laugh
