History at channel two
Don Day | January 25, 2009Art and the History of Idaho Broadcasting Foundation gang will meet this Friday at the KBCI studios to celebrate the station’s 55th anniversary. The meeting is this Friday – but an RSVP is required by Thursday so the folks at KBCI can get a headcount for lunch on them. Details below.
KBOI-TV Channel 2 television signed on the air from Deer Point on Thanksgiving Day 1953.
In 1975, they changed call letters to KBCI.
To celebrate their sign-on, we are holding a Special Meeting of the History of Idaho Broadcasting Foundation at the KBCI studios in Boise on Friday January 30, 2009 from 12:30-2:30 P.M.
The reason for the 12:30 lunch time is because we will eat in the
actual KBCI on-air studios, which are busy until 12:30 P.M. doing their
live Noon Newscast! After lunch, we’ll watch a special program on
KBCI’s 55-Year History, and then take an optional tour of the KBCI
facilities, including their robotic camera system and remote control
room operation from sister-station KOMO in Seattle! We’ll also have
short tribute to longtime Channel 2Operations Director Jeff Bishop who retired from KBCI in December after 39 years of service.
You need to RSVP for lunch by Noon on Thursday January 29th
Lunch being provided FREE of charge by KBCI.
Please call Art at 465-8007 or email Art at pawzup@Qwest.net
KBCI is located at 16th and Main Streets in the old Buttrey’s Grocery store location.
Don’t miss this historic meeting! RSVP to Art now at the above phone number or email!
See you on January 30th!
