Ratings: Group averages
Don Day | February 5, 2009Citadel and Peak continue to battle it out for the top spot in the market – with Citadel raking in a total of 27 share points 12+ in the book – or an average of a 4.5 share per station.
Peak notched a 24.9 share or 4.15 per station.
Journal continues to fade, with an 18.9 total – or 3.15 share per station.
Impact is still far back in the pack with a 7.6 total, which averages out to 1.9 share points per stations..
From spring, Peak, Citadel and Journal all lost ground. Impact gained – increase from a 5.2 to a 7.6. However, they also have one more frequency in the market – but they also lifted KTMB from a 0 to KPDA’s 1.9
Peak Broadcasting LLC’s #1 goal is to be the top dog of the Boise Market, right now Citadel has a 2 point lead, here is what I think Peak should consider doing to attain the number one spot come spring 2009…
Dump Wow Country 104.3 and sell KFXD! Take all the money possible from some religious group that would purchase the 630 signal and put that into a big advertising campaign promoting the BSU Bronco’s that will now be on 104.3 FM – basically a KIDO Simulcast on the FM Dial – Plus getting rid of Wow “104 in a row” would save a ton of money by dumping 3 or 4 “live” salaries!
Wow is OK but Citadel has the heritage country locked up and it is costly to pay for a live staff. Peaks biggest draws are the Broncos, Mike and Kate, Hooker, and EZ listening in every doctors office around town!
KFXD used to be a good stand alone station until Peak took over but has become a real red headed stepchild and now a 500 pound anchor and a certain liability…
3 stations and KIDO on the AM and FM dial is the future for Peak!
Maker, while I love you’re ideas, the plain and simple fact is that it will never happen.
Spin off a couple of FM’s and an AM would create more players in the game, that’s for sure.
It just quite simply makes too much “good” business sense, something that Peak is surely missing out on.
Never say never and don’t think you’ve got me on tilt, but mark my words friend… it could and will happen!
Peak has plenty of “business” sense, plus upper management has the downright nastyness to follow through…
