Part of our job is to be seen in the public. If these were a commercial event, I might agree with you. But since this is a benefit, why not? We in radio have a symbiotic relationship. Sure, sometimes they suck our blood (not referring to this particular event), but frankly we need "them" too! You could argue it is parasitic, but it all comes out in the end. As for your argument we need money, sure, but we also need job security and this helps achieve it. They want us to come out to their "Home Developement" to promote their support of the Middleton Library, do the event at the Library. It is nothing more than an attempt to get attention for their place. It is time for these places to understand radio doesn't have to give out free air. "DJ's" need to make a living too. I bet they didn't get Miss Armstrong for free. I applaud all the radio professional in town who turned them down. It is time to give some respect to those who make it our profession, God knows we get little of it in our own buildings.
