Last I heard of Dave "Your Radio Slave" Stone's whereabouts, he had his own tattoo shop on Vista...

Don, go find him and do a write up on him. Heck I'd just like to see how many tattoo's he's sportin' these days!

Is Bernie still at IdaWest Traffic with Bill Bailey? Speaking of former KF95-er's, I reconnected with "Wombat" on Facebook last year. He's residing in Singapore and no, he hasn't settled down.

My dad always got a good belly laugh when I mentioned something about Chuck Roast! Last I heard, Dave Stone sold the tattoo shop and was doing prison ministry. I think Bernie told me that. She works at Velma Morrisons office now. When Fred Meyer was still open at Orchard and Overland, I was walking down the aisle and saw this bad ass looking dude with a long mohawk and a knife hanging off his belt standing in the toy aisle. I did a double take and came back..."Dave my Radio Slave?" "Oh hey Tom, how's it goin'!" He was looking up pictures of Thumper the rabbit from Bambi, because someone wanted that as a tattoo. I tried not to laugh watching the looks on other shopper's faces as we stood there having a perfectly normal conversation! Hey Dale, remember seeing if we could frisbee the prior week's Casey Kasem records out the door at the end of the hallway? Good times!

I agree with Lee. This one was too easy.

Now, an older pic - featuring the original studios and the "little house" - shot from the same location may have made it a tougher call. Still, the four towers - two self-supporting - and the old TV station mast on one of them, makes it a dead giveaway.

In my youth I once resolved to climb the northwest tower. Made it about 2/3 of the way to the top, then looked down. Big mistake.

Hey Dave,
"Hey Rump Roast" as Dave Stone would refer to me then, as one of the parttimers at the station. Not many remember "Chuck Roast" On KF95 do they......(that's a good thing). I remember the weekend meter readings at the station way back then too. Thanks for the memories IRN.

Stephanie... not only did we have to go out and take the readings out back, but I also had to regularly fire up the generator to make sure it was ready if needed. I think that diesel engine came out of a big Kenworth semi-truck. It was huge and LOUD! That thing always freaked me out too... And Dave Stone, what a character. I appreciated that he always put people first. I enjoyed working with him. But when I think of that studio, I just remember the days of Big Jack and Wombat doing mornings and Steve Ryan at night. Them were some FUN days! Alot more fun than what was happening behind the doors of KIYS in the late 80's.

Hey Don, did you ever post the pic I sent of Curtis Stigers signing the "Wall of Fame" before it got all repainted over?

Editor's note: I thought so... but now I can't find the post. Hmmm.

Elliot has a good idea about the tower pictures. What true broadcaster cannot admire a good looking tower site. Also there is kind a sub-industry among that actually sell calenders with towers on them....and why not?

Other than KFXD-AM (it will always be that for me as well!) and the Self-Standing tower for KQQQ-AM in Pullman, Washington, how many other Self Standing towers are around the state of Idaho these days.... I would like to know.

Those are the radio towers for KF95 out on Amity in Meridian. Oh the memories at that place. Working out there with Dave Stone, Tom Collins, Curt Caldwell and Victor Fox. Dave Stone was the first guy who thought I could fill in for mornings and that is how I met Tommy! I think most of us in the radio business swung open those doors and crossed the threshold into Boise radio out there on what use to be a lonely stretch of highway. What I use to hate was going out back to do the meter readings.....anybody else hate that!? Always afraid of the possibility of running into some huge spiders. Boy how things and the sound of Boise radio has changed...............

Hi Don,

Just a suggestion, why not take some pictures of "local" tower sites? We would be happy to supply some of ours! You could rotate through a collection of IDAHO radio transmission site pictures.

Regards,
Elliott Klein
