Of course it always helps the syndication budgets are in the well over six figures if not more and most locals make minimum wage. Minimum wage doesn't book guests, give many decent prizes (except for the occasional beer cozy and ball cap) as well as hire extras who write, produce, research and plan. But it's ok, if Bob FM wound up 5th then what's a few more numbers for Bob and Tom?

Anyone up for a Toofer Tuesday?

Well, once again...it holds true, the stations with the best TALENT...are at the top (at least with the important adult #'s)!! So much for "who plays the most music"...yah, once again...we all have iPods etc. for that. Give GOOD entertainment...mix in some good "USEFUL" information, and you've got a good recipe for success! And of course, it helps to promote it...OUTSIDE the regular listener's. Yes, I know...there are more elements to it...but what does it REALLY boil down to?!! And yah, the numbers can lie...but when you get out and actually TALK to people...you start to find a pattern of who get's listened to...and WHY! And on that subject...remotes...uh, when you "show up" at an event with your banner, instead of just slapping it to a table with some duct tape and walking off....maybe have someone there actually ENGAGING with people....asking questions...who do they listen to, why...etc.? I've seen too many cases where the interns are sent out, banner on the table etc. and NO interaction with people (ah, listeners, or potential listeners)!!
Would love to hear some other input, from people who've been in the biz for a while!

congrats to bob and tom for another money demo victory. how long is this market going to tolerate getting kicked in the teeth by syndicated talent getting piped in and laying the wood to the locals? it doesn't have to happen. i see and hear a lot of excuses. really, brain trust, play pd for me...what's the answer here. not trying to be sarcastic. b&t are talented, with support from their indianapolis mgmt, get all the tools supplied to them, and i'll bet there's not some bonehead pd in their market up their rears about edgy content. how do they do it? i guess in my contempt, i guess i've provided my answer. but geez, with as much money available in the local market in that daypart, when is a treasure valley management team gonna get the stones to let some local guys do something unleashed and score?

ps-kj...the "my post not showing up" post may have something to do with watching the kettle rise to a boil. that's why i post so late/early. i post, shut down the computer, and hit the sack. then when io come back to see if my pearls of wisdom "made the grade" enough time has passed to have been moderated.

oh yeah, that also allows Selector the time to complete scheduling another day of genious meeeewzik programmin' so i can get that big fat check direct deposited (kj...fyi, that's not a slam at you bud...rather the state of affairs in the industry)

hey, anybody here remember when kbbk had studios on fairview in a little tower. what was the location of that little beauty? something charming about a studio location like that...or the basement of that little church in meridian...

Bob and Tom
Tracy and Margo
Mike and Kate
Then the Mees.
