Ellen K claims she gets treated at Boise’s Ideal Image

Don @ IdahoRadioNews | July 5, 2009

Ellen_K_57File this in very bad ideas. Local hair removal shop (and heavy radio advertiser) Ideal Image is running spots during On Air with Ryan Seacrest on KSAS/103.3 Kiss FM featuring sidekick Ellen K. Ellen – one-time Playboy pinup and best friend of one of those Kardashian-show people lives in Los Angeles. But she is telling people here in Boise she got hair removal done at Ideal Image and she “loves it.” She blathers on for just shy of 60 seconds before telling folks to call Ideal Image and “tell ‘em Ellen K from On Air with Ryan Seacrest sent ya.”

It isn’t uncommon for nationally syndicated talent to voice local spots – everyone from Glenn Beck to Delilah offers the service. But by having that national talent claim he or she personally uses the service when chances are they have never been anywhere near Boise, you’re treading on really thin ice. Beyond it being a silly fabrication — I think most people in the audience will see right through it.

Oh brother

Don Day | December 16, 2008

And we thought Idaho Radio News got into unimportant minutiae. This from a local gossip blog:

[a website] accidentally let it slip last week that Miggy Santos of magic [sic] 93.1 and his girlfriend Bethany were rumored to be getting hitched in Vegas this weekend. We got a lot of flack (what’s new) for the breaking news as Miggy issued a myspace [sic] bulletin statement saying:

Well… it said they weren’t…. but then the website said they were… but then it said they weren’t and then she said that he said that her brother said that…

Oh wait… sorry… most of us aren’t in high school anymore.  Most of us.

Citadel employees: no e-mail for you!

Don Day | July 18, 2008

More than three years ago, Citadel employees lost their right to look at this site at work. They were told how vile it is – and told not to participate.

I thought that was dumb. This takes the cake though. Citadel employees also can’t check their personal e-mail at work. No kidding. Gmail, etc. is cut off on Citadel terminals.

No wonder Citadel folks are so loyal!

Did Magic throw ice water on the Hot 9?

Don Day | February 14, 2008

KZMG/Magic 93.1’s Hot Nine at Nine hasn’t appeared in several weeks. Why? KSAS is making a strong run at KZMG – and has put a night talent in place that is engaging and entertaining. Magic’s night show has been flat since… oh… about the time Big Boy left. Now it looks like the station killed off its longest running feature (maybe CB or Scooter or Mike or one of other readers can help pinpoint its start… 1993ish?)

Bad move.

Citadel stations getting new websites

Don Day | December 24, 2007

Remember when I complained about the awful, cluttered messy Citadel Boise websites? The wheels were clearly already in motion to reboot the sites on the Mediaspan platform. KBOI.com is the first to launch – though it is very light on local content, and still pales in comparison to the Peak sites – and even the JBG sites.

KZMG.com launched late this week – and is a vast improvement over the site’s prior look – however the site is certainly NOT ready for prime time – and whoever gave the “go” sign should be embarrassed. The DJ page is complete, none of the main content areas have any… content. Also, clicking on “Listen Live” (which Magic promotes at least four times an hour) takes you to a page that allows you to listen to 92 PRO FM. Unless Magic is moving to Providence, RI – changing dial position and positioner – this is the wrong station. Also, for Mac users, a popup offering an audio file called “silence.wav” comes up. Not a single talent on the station has a bio – but a link to dantokerinthemorning.com is offered – complete with all sorts of information on how to hire him.

All the other Citadel sites are still on the old platform… and I can’t believe I’m saying this… they might be better of staying there.
