Everything you need to know about wet dreams.

What is it exactly that causes my wet dreams?

There are several factors that can cause your wet dreams, but the most important one is probably stress.

Stress increases blood flow to your genitals and can lead to arousal and even ejaculation. If you feel stressed out right now, then chances are there will be some sort of dream involving those areas of your body, whether they’re good or bad (or neutral).

Your brain doesn’t always make perfectly logical decisions though. A wet dream could simply be due to your mind playing tricks on you.

Sometimes people get very excited during a stressful situation and they end up ejaculating while falling asleep!

So what’s the solution?

Try to relax before going to sleep and try not to worry about anything, especially if it involves the bedroom. You might just find that all your worries will go away during sleep…

Or maybe not. I mean who knows? It’s science after all.

Why do they happen?

Some scientists believe that wet dreams may help us to relieve tension and anxiety during stressful situations. In other words, we get off on the fact that our bodies are producing a certain hormone, prolactin, which helps regulate moods and emotions.

When we ejaculate during these times of stress, the hormones released cause pleasure in our minds and increase levels of prolactin within our bodies. These hormonal increases might then help contribute to relaxation and less anxiety in stressful situations.

Do women have wet dreams? We know that females too experience an increase in hormonal levels as they sleep and there is an obvious connection between their genitals and other bodily changes occurring during a dream.

So it only makes sense that women can experience wet dreams too (although they don’t go hand in hand with the same psychological impact, but still sometimes associated with feelings of shame and guilt). It is likely that wet dreams are much more common in women than was previously believed.

Well look on the bright side; if all the studies are correct then every time a woman has a wet dream she is indirectly being stimulated by her mirror image… Or am I completely wrong?
What can I do to prevent wet dreams? While at home…

Nothing! (But stay calm and things should be fine). In hospitals and research centres around the world however, experiments are being done on animals to try to block the biological signals of pain and stress. So there may be something in the future to help you, assuming the “side effects” aren’t too bad of course.

Clean sheets?

Most guys don’t have parent smart enough to make them change their linens during this awkward four to six year period. And no, it’s not their fault! They came into this world before you did and had to make as little waves so the government wouldn’t take them away. Which means most of the housework falls on your mom because she’s too tied down to go protest about school not teaching such things.

But she can’t do it all and sometimes guys will just have to tough it out. Unfair? Yeah. Unfortunately, life ain’t fair.

Besides, a little dirt never hurt anybody… Except the people you sleep next to.
Long answer: Wet dreams can happen at any time and there’s nothing you do or don’t do to stop it. It is thought that the brain produces a lot of hormonal changes that trigger these “dreams” when we’re young and also experiencing growth spurts in various areas of the body.
